Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola has all the logistical and human conditions to carry out the Pilot Census, starting on the 19th of this month, in 14 communes in seven provinces of the country, within a period of 30 days.<\/b><\/p>\n

The guarantee was given this Thursday, in Luanda, by the spokesperson of the Multisectoral Commission for the Support of the 2024 Census, Hernany Pena Lui\u0301s, at the end of the seventh ordinary meeting of this Commission.<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson, all conditions are prepared for the start of the Pilot Census on the scheduled date, a process that will cover the communes of the provinces of Cunene, Bie\u0301, Ui\u0301ge, Bengo, Cuando Cubango, Lunda-Norte and Luanda.<\/p>\n

Without advancing the number of professionals who will be involved in this undertaking, the source stated that the Pilot Census will count on the direct commitment of cartographers, census takers and drivers.<\/p>\n

According to Hernany Pena Lui\u0301s, the census takers will collect information through a digital application installed on tablets.<\/p>\n

He referred that the process also relies on the engagement of the National Security Forces, namely personnel from the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA) and the National Police (ensuring mobility).<\/p>\n

For areas with difficult access and challenging road mobility (communes of Cunene, Cuando Cubango and Hui\u0301la), the spokesman assured that the FAA will be able to make helicopters available.<\/p>\n

He added that, after carrying out the preliminary census, the phase of a “coverage survey” will follow, as well as continuing with the work of the cartographic update, which will take place until 2024.<\/p>\n

The Pilot Census is an activity whose purpose is to test the level of organization, methodologies, procedures and, above all, the possible constraints of the operation, in order to correct and take precautionary measures, before the definitive census.<\/p>\n

This process serves as an antechamber for the 2024 Census, the third in the country’s history. The first Angolan Census was carried out in 1970, five years before Angola’s independence, while the second took place in 2014.<\/p>\n
