Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, appealed to the new Minister of Industry and Commerce, in order to work for a balance between the increase of domestic production, of the national industry and the need to import goods to feed the industrial sector.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cWe need to promote \u201cmade in Angola\u201d because domestic production not only offers a wider range of goods and services to citizens and the country in general, but also guarantees greater employment for our young people and citizens\u201d, he underlined. .<\/p>\n

The Head of State was speaking this Friday, in Luanda, during the inauguration ceremony of Rui Migue\u0302ns de Oliveira, as Minister of Industry and Commerce, recently appointed.<\/p>\n

For the holder of the Executive Power, “the biggest challenge that the country has at the moment is, without a doubt, the diversification of its economy”, for which he defended the need to “promote and cherish” the national industry.<\/p>\n

\u201cAlthough we feel that there is an effort in that direction, we are a long way from being satisfied with what we have achieved to date\u201d, said Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in an allusion to the diversification of the national economy.<\/p>\n

Profile of the new minister<\/p>\n

Born in Gabela, Cuanza Sul province, Rui Migue\u0302ns de Oliveira has a degree in Economics from the University of Havana, Cuba.<\/p>\n

He has courses in Reserve Management and Exchange Policy \u2013 \u200b\u200bESADARM\/IMF \u2013 Kadoma, Zimbabwe; of Monetary and Exchange Operations \u2013 IMF Institute, Washington, (USA); First National Bank Reserve Management course in Pretoria, South Africa, and the Risk Management and Analysis of Public Projects course at Duke University in North Carolina, USA.<\/p>\n

Rui Migue\u0302ns’s academic curriculum also includes the Financial Programming and Policy Analysis course at the Bank of Portugal and the IMF Institute, held in Lisbon, Portugal, as well as the Public Finance Management course at Harvard University, Massachusetts, USA.<\/p>\n

Aged 58, the youngest member of the Government of Angola has extensive experience in banking.<\/p>\n

His professional career includes passages at the Banco de Come\u0301rcio e Indu\u0301stria \u2013 account manager (1991-1994) and at the National Bank of Angola, as a senior technician in the Reserve Management Department.<\/p>\n

He was Deputy Director of Reserve Management, Director of Banking Supervision, Director of Studies and Statistics, Deputy Governor of the BNA and Consultant to the Governor.<\/p>\n

Rui Migue\u0302ns is the founder of Banco Valor, an institution where he held, among others, the positions of Chairman of the Board of Directors and Vice-Chairman of the Board of Directors.<\/p>\n

Between 2014 and 2015 he dedicated himself to banking and financial consulting. From 2015 to October 2017, he was executive vice president of Banco Keve, until he was appointed, again, in November 2017, deputy governor of BNA, a position he held until November 2022.<\/p>\n

Until his appointment as Minister of Industry and Commerce, Migue\u0302ns was a consultant to the Central Bank.<\/p>\n
