Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A new aviary, with the capacity to produce 21,000 eggs per day, was built in the town of Giraul de Baixo, municipality of Moc\u0327a\u0302medes, thus responding to the demand for this product in the local market.<\/b><\/p>\n

The project, by private initiative, was financed by the Angolan Investment Bank (BAI), in the amount of seven hundred million kwanzas, under the Program to Support Production, Diversification of Exports and Substitution of Imports (PRODES).<\/p>\n

The aviary, built in an area of \u200b\u200b100 hectares, with only 18 hectares being used in the first phase, has four aisles, one of which is for brood and three for the 21,000 laying hens.<\/p>\n

The head of the aviary, Adriano Silva, told that the construction of the first phase of this project took two years, starting in June 2021, and currently employs 35 workers, out of the 100 jobs planned until the end of the contract.<\/p>\n

In the second phase, which is scheduled for later this year, as clarified by the owner, the aviary will have four more breeding units, with a capacity for 15,000 chickens each, the construction of a slaughterhouse to slaughter 1,500 chickens per day , in addition to the placement of a cold room for the conservation of slaughtered birds.<\/p>\n

At the moment, he said, the aviary has installed incubators, with the capacity to incubate twenty thousand chicks.<\/p>\n

\u201c We are walking step by step to contribute to the development of our province, so we take the opportunity to ask our Executive to help us with an energy branch, more specifically a Transformation Station\u201c.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the provincial governor of Namibe, Archer Mangueira, appealed to the business class to invest in projects aimed at the agricultural and livestock sector, in order to leverage the province’s economy.<\/p>\n

The province of Namibe now has four farms. Currently, a carton of 24 eggs is sold at three thousand five hundred kwanzas.<\/p>\n
