Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The ministerial change made by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, with the dismissal of the former and the appointment of a new Minister of Industry and Commerce, marked the news of the political division, in the week that ended Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n

Within the framework of the powers assigned to him, the President of the Republic appointed Rui Migue\u0302ns de Oliveira to the position of Minister of Industry and Commerce, having previously, also by decree, exonerated Victor Francisco dos Santos Fernandes from the same position.<\/p>\n

This week, Joa\u0303o Salvador Quintas was also appointed Non-Executive Director and Chairman of the Board of Directors of Banco de Desenvolvimento de Angola, replacing Maria do Carmo Bastos Corte Real Bernardo.<\/p>\n

The Holder of Executive Power also reappointed Lando Sebastia\u0303o Teta as Chairman of the Board of Directors of Imprensa Nacional – Empresa Pu\u0301blica (EP), having also appointed Leonel Pires Magalha\u0303es to the same public company (as Executive Director for the Technical Area and Technologies). and Manuel Anto\u0301nio (Executive Director for the Administrative Area and Human Resources).<\/p>\n

In the same decree, Manuel Joa\u0303o da Fonseca, as well as Rodeth Teresa Ma\u0301kina Gil, both non-Executive directors, were appointed.<\/p>\n

As President of the Republic and Commander-in-Chief of the Angolan Armed Forces, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o reopened, in the province of Zaire, the Naval Base of Soyo, an infrastructure, expanded and modernized, which took place within the framework of the 47th anniversary of the Navy of the Angolan War, marked on the 10th of this current.<\/p>\n

The North Naval Base, built in a total construction area of \u200b\u200b111 thousand and 500 square meters, has an access channel and a maneuvering basin, which led to the dredging of 6 million and 130 thousand cubic meters of land, and in it stand out the wharf, with a length of 330 meters, as well as the three wharf bridges, with a total length of 374 meters.<\/p>\n

In his speech, the statesman referred to the fact that the Angolan Government is monitoring, with great attention and apprehension, the growing deterioration of peace and security in different parts of the planet, with emphasis on the African continent.<\/p>\n

This week’s Presidential agenda was also marked by the inauguration of the first School of Network 42 “Escola 42” in the country, one of the best in terms of programming in the world and which does not require the presence of teachers.<\/p>\n

Accompanied by the First Lady of the Republic, Ana Dias Lourenc\u0327o, members of the Government and the management of the educational establishment, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o toured some areas of the school unit, having received information about its functioning.<\/p>\n

Another aspect was related to the congratulations to the people of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe on the forty-eighth anniversary of the archipelago’s National Independence, which was celebrated on Wednesday (12).<\/p>\n

In a message sent to his Sao Tome counterpart, Carlos Vila Nova, the Angolan Head of State considers the date “of great significance” for Sao Tome and Principe and highlighted the commitment of the people of that country to the realization of the construction of a harmonious and understanding society .<\/p>\n

He also congratulated the people and the French Government on the National Day of France, on its national day, celebrated on Friday.<\/p>\n

In a message sent to his counterpart in France, Emmanuel Macron, the Head of State stressed that the date “symbolizes the courage, the patriotic and combative spirit of your people, who have always had at the heart of their aspirations the construction of a nation based on the principles of liberty, equality, fraternity and unity of Gallic citizens”.<\/p>\n

The country’s position was also highlighted, with regard to the need to intensify the exchange of information between the Defense and Security Forces of member countries of the International Conference on the Great Lakes Region (CIRGL), with a view to creating conditions for peace and lasting stability in the region.<\/p>\n

Angola’s position was expressed by the holder of the National Defense and Veterans of the Fatherland portfolio, Joa\u0303o Ernesto dos Santos, at the closing of the Ordinary Meeting of the Committee of Defense Ministers of the CIRGL, which took place in Luanda.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the Angolan official underlined that the creation of conditions of lasting peace and stability in the region will be a facilitating factor for the life of the populations in the exercise of their socially useful activities.<\/p>\n

In the field of bilateral cooperation, press reported the reaffirmation of the Zambian President, Hakainde Hichilema, in Accra, capital of Ghana, of the intention to reinforce cooperation in the commercial sector between Angola and Zambia.<\/p>\n

Speaking during a courtesy meeting with the Angolan ambassador to Ghana, Joa\u0303o Baptista Domingos Quiosa, the Zambian statesman also reaffirmed his pleasure with the inauguration of the Lobito Corridor, as it will bring great benefit to both countries.<\/p>\n

Also noteworthy is the announcement that deputies to the National Assembly (AN) will vote, on the 26th of this month, on the General State Account (CGE) for the 2021 financial year.<\/p>\n

The information was advanced by the first secretary of the Board of the AN, Manuel Lopes Dembo, at the end of the Conference of Parliamentary Leaders, oriented by the president of the Parliament, Carolina Cerqueira.<\/p>\n

It was also reported that Angola could become one of the first Member States of the African Union (AU) to ratify the Amendments to the Protocol Relating to the Statute of the African Court of Justice and Human Rights.<\/p>\n

The specialized commissions of the National Assembly (AN) approved Tuesday, in general terms, the joint opinion report and the draft Resolution of this Protocol, which will be voted in the Plenary on the 27th of this month.<\/p>\n

The Protocol on Amendments to the Protocol on the Statute of the African Court of Justice and Human Rights was adopted by the 20th Session of the Assembly of the African Union, held on 27 June 2014, in the city of Malabo (Equatorial Guinea).<\/p>\n

Also in the field of justice, the Constitutional Court (TC) denied the appeal filed by businessman Carlos Manuel de Sa\u0303o Vicente, sentenced to nine years in prison, in the context of the so-called “USD 900 million” case.<\/p>\n

According to judgment No. 825\/2023, the plenary of the TC considered that, during the judgment of the District Court of Luanda, the principles, rights and constitutional guarantees alleged by the defense of the appellant in the appeal filed.<\/p>\n

Also highlighted were the reactions in relation to the actions of the security forces in the context of protecting demonstrators, whose importance was highlighted by political analyst Osvaldo Mboco.<\/p>\n

In reacting to the petition from Amnesty International Portugal, to put an end to what he considers “the use of excessive, disproportionate and lethal force by the security forces”, he said that this action aims to ensure the social well-being, peace, order and tranquility of the populations .<\/p>\n

Also in relation to this matter, the Director of Public Security of the National Police (PN), Orlando Bernardo, said that the corporation has a didactic role in the demonstrations and the use of force happens, proportionally, when it is a question of violation of other rights.<\/p>\n
