Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>With the objective of obtaining the minimum qualifications for the 2024 Paralympic Games, the National Adapted Athletics Team partially fulfilled the task at the World Championship, which ends this Monday in France.<\/b><\/p>\n

Despite being the first goal assumed by the Angolan Paralympic Committee, even though only fulfilled by Moko (100 and 200m) and Jaime (1500m), the second, which would be the improvement of the personal marks of the members of the group, did not materialize.<\/p>\n

With a team made up of four athletes, namely Regina Dumbo, Emeloide Kassang, Juliana Moko (visually impaired) and Manuel Jaime (motor disabled), Angola competed in the 100, 200, 400 and 1500 meters and reached the semi-finals twice and in a direct final.<\/p>\n

Moko, clearly the best unit led by Jose\u0301 Manuel, is among the eight best athletes in the world in the International Paralympic Committee Ranking, in the 100 and 200 meters specialties, at a time when the focus is on preparing for the podium dispute at the 2028 Paralympics.<\/p>\n

The athlete, despite having been one step away from two finals, regressed in personal bests, for example, in the 100 meters she had 13.03 and ended up dropping to 13.19, in the 200m she clocked 27.40 against 27.25 in the qualifying phase.<\/p>\n

Manuel Jaime, a middle distance specialist, ran the direct final of the 1500m on Sunday, finishing in 11th place, with a time of 4:16.19, but still remains eligible for the \u201cFranc\u0327a \u03012024\u201d Paralympic Games.<\/p>\n

However, this Cuanza Sul runner has already had better marks in distance, the most relevant being obtained in 2019, at the World Championship, held in Dubai, where he clocked 4.04, a mark very close to the intended three-minute mark.<\/p>\n

As for Regina Dumbo and Emeloide Kassang, they failed in the three speed tests in which they evolved on the track at the Charlety Porte de Gentilly stadium. They did not pass the initial phase in the 100, 200 and 400 meters and still fell short of expectations.<\/p>\n

However, exception is made to Dumbo, who was disqualified in the 400m preliminaries due to a technical failure by the guide athlete, Abel Santo.<\/p>\n

The sprinter clocked a time of 1:01.83 that would give access to the semi-finals, but her partner made a serious athletics error when he stepped on the line of a track that did not belong to the duo.<\/p>\n

The delegation to the event returns to the country on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
