Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The governor of Huambo, Lotti Nolika, announced Sunday, the execution, in the next few days, of the rehabilitation plan for secondary roads in the province, with the support of the Military House of the President of the Republic.<\/b><\/p>\n

The governor was speaking to the press, after assessing the level of execution of the earthworks on the access road to the Sa\u0303o Jose\u0301 neighbourhood, on the outskirts of the city of Huambo, within the framework of the road rehabilitation plan in peri-urban areas, in an initiative of the Administration Local, in partnership with the provincial government.<\/p>\n

According to the official, the new road rehabilitation plan will consist of earth moving the roads that connect the municipal and communal headquarters, as well as areas with high levels of agricultural production, with a view to improving the circulation of people and goods.<\/p>\n

The province of Huambo is made up of 37 communes, of which 11 are the municipal headquarters and connected by paved roads, while the other 26 have access roads to the secondary ones, which mostly present circulation difficulties.<\/p>\n

Lotti Nolika said that the support of the Casa Militar results from a request that the Government of Huambo recently made to the President of the Republic and that it was answered satisfactorily.<\/p>\n

He added that, in a first phase, the program envisages leveling more than 400 kilometers of roads on secondary roads, between the municipal and communal headquarters, as well as the cultivation areas of the municipalities of Cachiungo, Chicala-Cholohanga, Chinjenje, Ecunha, Longonjo and Ucuma.<\/p>\n

He explained that the initial choice of these municipalities resulted from the fact that they have a road network with numerous traffic difficulties, which requires a quick and punctual intervention.<\/p>\n

Without specifying the number of kits to be made available by the Casa Militar, he assured that they would start arriving in Huambo province from Monday (17th), in order to start the work, which is expected to be completed by as soon as possible, before the onset of rains.<\/p>\n

The plan, whose works are being carried out with own financial resources collected by the Huambo municipal administration, aims to improve conditions for the movement of people and goods in the peripheral areas of the city.<\/p>\n

The plan also envisages covering, in each district, the earthworks of just three kilometers of road.<\/p>\n

It is estimated that the city of Huambo, capital of the province with the same name, has more than 50 peripheral neighborhoods.<\/p>\n
