Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, considers the substitution of imports \u201ca real business opportunity\u201d that Angola offers to private investors, within the framework of the ongoing process of diversification of the economy in the country.<\/p>\n

In a publication on his personal page on the Facebook social network, the Angolan President refers that the country’s geographic position should continue to be explored as a major gateway to the entire Southern and Central African region.<\/p>\n

In the publication, released this Wednesday, the Head of State underlines the fact that Angola is a market with young labor available, an expanding electricity grid, fertile land and abundant water.<\/p>\n

The Angolan Government approved, through Presidential Decree No. 169\/18 of 20 July, the Program to Support Production, Diversify Exports and Substitute Imports (PRODESI).<\/p>\n

The program has at its core the acceleration of the diversification process of the national economy. To this end, it gives priority to promoting production and exports in the non-oil sectors, as well as in sectors with a strong potential for replacing imports.<\/p>\n

PRODESI’s priority sectors are food and agro-industry, mineral resources, oil and natural gas, forestry, textiles, clothing and footwear, construction and Public Works, Information Technologies and Telecommunications, Health, Education, Training and Scientific Research, Tourism and Leisure.<\/p>\n
