Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Four hundred and 61 field agents and more than 500 census takers will ensure the operationalization of the Pilot Census\/2023, started this Wednesday (19th), in seven provinces, in advance of the 2024 General Population and Housing Census.<\/b><\/p>\n

For this purpose, several assistants at provincial, municipal and local levels were also trained, and 114 drivers were assigned, as well as IT professionals and other technicians, with a total involvement of around 1,840 people expected.<\/p>\n

This information was advanced by the director of the National Statistics Institute, Jose\u0301 Calenji, stressing that the data from the 2024 General Census will be presented in two phases: first in three months (the provisional ones), and then in 18 (the definitive results).<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, this experimental phase of the aforementioned statistical operation will take place for a month in seven provinces, namely Bengo, Bie\u0301, Cuando Cubango, Cunene, Luanda, Lunda Norte and Ui\u0301ge and 14 municipalities previously selected.<\/p>\n

During this period, the level of readiness of the personnel and of all procedures associated with operational, logistical, technical-functional and organizational implementation will be tested, for the success of the action next year.<\/p>\n

Speaking at the launch of the Pilot Census, the Minister of State of the Military House of the President of the Republic, Francisco Furtado, recalled that, soon, Angola will mark its 48 years of independence and will carry out, for the second time, the General Census of Population.<\/p>\n

The official underlined that this is a fundamental milestone for the development of any nation, and that given the population growth in the country and the demographic explosion that is taking place, it is up to the National Institute of Statistics (INE) to carry out the operation throughout the territory. .<\/p>\n

“With a view to ensuring full support to INE and guaranteeing the necessary conditions for the fulfillment of this mission, the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, under Presidential Dispatch no 290\/22 of 30 December, created a Commission, to prepare and provide reference data for the various sectors of society”, he added.<\/p>\n

The same, announced Francisco Furtado, must also guarantee and prepare the technical, financial, material and logistical conditions for the Institute, with the objective of carrying out the aforementioned Census, in view of the Executive’s strategic vision for the General Census of 2024.<\/p>\n

According to the Commission’s coordinator, the information collected will allow obtaining indicators of “who we are, how many and how we live”, hence he calls on all of society to participate and contribute in providing this important data that census operators will present in the questionnaire under the heading theme \u201ctogether we count for Angola\u201d.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the official recognized the possibility of several obstacles, such as the transmission of information and awareness of the population, the transhumance process, in some regions, the language in communication, the lack of electricity in certain rural areas, among other aspects. .<\/p>\n

The Minister of Economy and Planning informed that for the Pilot Census the Government has available around 30 billion Kwanzas, which will be used for the cartographic update, and other processes, which will help to better quantify the revenues and resources for each region. , programs and projects to improve the lives of the population.<\/p>\n

Ma\u0301rio Caetano Joa\u0303o reiterated the importance of carrying out this operation in the collection of data on population growth for sociological and economic research, market studies and other interventions in society and academia.<\/p>\n

“These data and information help fight social inequalities and promote socioeconomic balance among citizens”, said the public manager, in his speech at the launching session of the Pilot Census, this Wednesday, at night, at the National Institute of Statistic.<\/p>\n
