Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Only 57 domestic workers are enrolled in the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) system in Zaire province, a figure that falls short of the expectations of this institution’s entities in the region.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking this Wednesday, in Mbanza Kongo, the head of the INSS in the province, Ada\u0303o Sebastia\u0303o, said that a considerable part of this number does not pay their contributions regularly, a situation that could have a negative impact on the lives of these workers when they reach the age of of the reform.<\/p>\n

Ada\u0303o Sebastia\u0303o defended, on the occasion, greater dissemination of the diploma for the registration of domestic workers at the National Institute of Social Security (INSS) in the province, with the involvement of public and private institutions.<\/p>\n

\u201cDespite the awareness campaigns that the INSS carries out in the region, the situation still persists\u201d, he asserted.<\/p>\n

In his opinion, domestic workers’ lack of knowledge of their rights contributes to this apathy in registering with the INSS.<\/p>\n

He advanced as data, 46,380 workers are registered in the social security system in the province of Zaire, of these only 1,465 regularly make their contributions.<\/p>\n

He also said that there are around 3,000 small and medium-sized companies in the General Tax Administration (AGT) database, but only 1,460 are controlled by the INSS and make the discount to the system.<\/p>\n

The domestic worker is a female or male person who is engaged in providing services to others, such as cleaning homes, cooking, washing and ironing, taking care of children, the elderly, the sick, gardens, domestic animals and other similar tasks.<\/p>\n

Within the scope of the mandatory social protection regime in Angola, the INSS deducts 10%, of which 6% is the responsibility of the employer and the other 4% refers to the worker.<\/p>\n

The Social Security System in Angola is made up of a set of contributory schemes, namely the scheme for employees, the scheme for self-employed workers and the scheme for members of religious denominations, through the fulfillment of duties and the right to installments.<\/p>\n
