Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A total of 100 cases of litigation, procedural delays and other violations were registered, between January and June this year, by the Ombudsman\u2019s Office in Huambo, 76 more than in the same period of 2022.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note this Thursday, of the 100 cases of violation of citizens’ rights, 97 were opened and three are archived, as they do not fall within the competence of the Ombudsman’s Office.<\/p>\n

He refers that the increase in cases results from bringing services closer to the population, raising legal awareness and access to information on the part of citizens.<\/p>\n

Of the open cases, according to the institutional document, 71 were intervened, with 50 already resolved or clarified, while the others continue to deserve the competent treatment.<\/p>\n

Of those resolved, it reads, there is the alleged non-compliance with the exercise of parental authority, detention in the penitentiary establishment of Cambiote, complaint of a criminal process, delay and annulment of salary deductions and non-compliance with contributions to Social Security.<\/p>\n

Excessive pre-trial detention, procedural delays, labor and land conflicts, as well as the non-provision of food, are the most frequent complaints that the body registered, in the first six months of the current year.<\/p>\n

In the document, the Ombudsman reiterates, within the scope of its attributions and competences, the continuity in the instruction and investigation of citizens’ complaints, for acts or omissions, practiced by public and private agents, for the common well-being.<\/p>\n

The Ombudsman’s Office is an independent institution whose objective is to defend the rights, freedoms and guarantees of citizens, ensuring, through informal means, justice and the legality of public administration.<\/p>\n
