Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>A delegation, headed by the Minister of National Defence, Former Combatants and Veterans of the Fatherland, Joa\u0303o Ernesto dos Santos \u201cLiberdade\u201d, has participated since this Thursday, in the Namibian capital, Windhoek, in the 25th meeting of the SADC Ministerial Committee of the Cooperation in Politics, Defense and Security body.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to a note from the Angolan diplomatic representation that, the main body for the promotion and protection of peace, security and stability of SADC discusses, from 20 to 21 July, in its regular annual meeting, Politics and Security, the Consolidation of Democracy, Public Security, Police, State Security and the Regional Peacekeeping Training Centre.<\/p>\n

At the opening of the meeting, the Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of International Relations and Cooperation of Namibia, Netumbo Nandi-Ndaitwah, in her capacity as President of the Organ’s Ministerial Committee, highlighted the advances achieved in strengthening peace, security and stability in the region, as essential factors for sustainable development.<\/p>\n

As an example, the Namibian official highlighted the deployment of the SADC Force Brigade in the East of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), as well as the mission to the North of Mozambique, which allowed neutralizing the terrorist action in this Indian Ocean country, enabling assistance to internally displaced people in Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n

The 25th meeting of the SADC Ministerial Committee of the Cooperation in Politics, Defense and Security body will also provide an update on Trafficking in Persons in the region, as well as analyze and approve the legal instrument establishing the UNIVISA of tourism, with the aim of further strengthening regional integration in the area of \u200b\u200bimmigration.<\/p>\n

At the discussion table will also be the ratifications of the Portocolo on Controlling the Movement of Persons in the SADC region (2005), which is not yet in force, with the Member States that have not yet signed and ratified doing so.<\/p>\n

The entry into force of the Protocol will further boost intra-regional tourism and allow for people-to-people exchanges, commercial interactions and investment throughout the region.<\/p>\n

The Angolan delegation is also integrated by the Chief of Staff of the Angolan Armed Forces (FAA), General Altino dos Santos, the Ambassador to Namibia, Jovelina Imperial e Costa, as well as the Secretaries of State for the Interior, Jose\u0301 Paulino Cunha da Silva, and the General Commander of the National Police, Arnaldo Carlos.<\/p>\n
