Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The MPLA, the ruling party, has been supervising and monitoring emergency works in Lobito city, Benguela province, suggesting and proposing corrective measures where necessary.<\/b><\/p>\n

This information was given, this Friday, by the MPLA’s first municipal secretary in Lobito, Evaristo Calopa Ma\u0301rio, on the sidelines of the second methodological meeting on the organization of the work of this party.<\/p>\n

According to that official, these measures are aimed at improving it so that the works meet the expectations of the population, who voted for the MPLA government program in the August 2022 elections.<\/p>\n

\u201cPeriodically, the party interacts with the local administrative authorities, with the contractor and the inspector, to obtain specific information on the levels of execution of the works, the variations and the perspectives they have, because they are designed for a period of three years\u201d, he explained.<\/p>\n

He argued that, during its execution, some changes may occur depending on the context, such as what is happening with the inclusion of more kilometers in the road network and other segments in the field of macro-drainage, public lighting, lancilage, to “improve the city and make it more airy for the population and its visitors”.<\/p>\n

He also referred to the accelerated construction of the Tchapanguele market, which, in his view, will concentrate a number of stallholders and, as a result, guarantee better living conditions, promote the reconversion of the informal economy and ensure that taxation occurs as a result of their commercial activity.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe work on the Flamingo cinema is also underway, already in its final phase, finishing the work on asphalting, public lighting, application of sidewalks and afforestation on Avenida Cerveira Pereira, which connects the Operative Unit and Ponte Carmona, as well as the intervention, in both directions, on Avenida Brasil, in the Compa\u0303o district\u201d, he informed.<\/p>\n

The project to supply water to the upper part of the city was also mentioned by the first secretary, informing that work was underway to install equipment at the pumping station in Lobito Velho.<\/p>\n

He recognized that the population of that area has been lacking in precious liquids for a long time, ensuring that everything is being done in order to speed up the works with the aim of restoring tranquility to its inhabitants.<\/p>\n

\u201cMany gains are coming, such as the emblematic road that connects Lobito to Catumbela, called the fast lane, as well as the deep macro-drainage work that will cover the main ditches in the city\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

In this regard, Evaristo Calopa Ma\u0301rio highlighted trench number three, which channels water to the high seas, where the gates will also be rehabilitated.<\/p>\n

MPLA implements social impact actions<\/p>\n

The first secretary of the MPLA reiterated his party’s concern to go out to meet the populations in order to live with them, learn about their concerns and, as far as possible, engage society in the sense of finding a solution to their problems.<\/p>\n

In this context, the party, through its social organizations such as OMA, a women’s organization, and JMPLA, its youth arm, has been involved in interaction with communities, regarding blood donation programs, visits to settlements of disadvantaged families and in homes, distributing food from the basic basket.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe have partnered with the Health services, holding fairs for public consultations in the communities, involving the living forces of civil society, in order to minimize and mitigate their difficulties\u201d, he stressed.<\/p>\n

The politician also stated that his party has received information from families in very difficult situations that have promptly deserved his affection and solidarity, regardless of their party affiliation.<\/p>\n
