Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola and Botswana decided, Friday, in Gaborone, to institutionalize regular meetings on the revitalization of bilateral cooperation with the monitoring and execution of commitments assumed.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the final communique\u0301 of the official talks held within the framework of President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o’s State visit to Botswana, the two countries will also regularly hold political-diplomatic consultations and bilateral and multilateral cooperation.<\/p>\n

Delegations from both countries were instructed to speed up negotiations on pending agreements and memorandums of understanding, including the Bilateral Agreement on Air Services (ABSA), to allow a direct connection between Luanda and Gaborone.<\/p>\n

Also within the framework of measures to strengthen cooperation and explore comparative and competitive advantages, political-diplomatic areas, oil and derivatives, energy and water, and agriculture and livestock were chosen as priorities.<\/p>\n

Priorities are also given to the diamond, tourism and environment sectors, in the latter with a focus on biodiversity conservation.<\/p>\n

The two SADC member countries are determined to relaunch the bilateral relations that date back to the beginnings of Angola’s independence achieved in 1975.<\/p>\n

After the establishment of their diplomatic relations, Angola and Botswana signed, in February 2006, a general cooperation agreement that is in the process of being updated, before the signing of new legal instruments.<\/p>\n
