Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, announced this Sunday that a program to assess the positioning of churches in Luanda is being prepared, in partnership with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism and the National Institute for Religious Affairs (INAR).<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of the service celebrating the 125 years of existence of the Evangelical Church in Angola (IEA), he said, without advancing the date of its entry into force, that the program foresees very concrete actions regarding noise pollution.<\/p>\n

According to Manuel Homem, similarly to the reordering of trade, the program will also pay attention to churches that have emerged without legalization and to the phenomenon of proliferation of religious sects in Luanda.<\/p>\n

According to a report by the National Assembly released in 2017, the country has 1,111 legally recognized churches and another 827 denominations that are still awaiting recognition (most are in Luanda).<\/p>\n

The report states that in every block of urban centers in Luanda there are about five religious denominations, most located in neighborhoods created after the country’s independence, between 1979 and 1990, namely Palanca, Rocha Pinto, Mabor, Petrangol and Golfo I and II.<\/p>\n
