Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Forty census takers from the municipalities of Cuito Cuanavale and Cuangar are participating since Monday, in a training event promoted by the National Institute of Statistics (INE), as part of the Pilot Census of Population and Housing.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the event, which runs until August 4, participants will improve their knowledge on population and housing data collection, improve their knowledge on the legal basis of the census and legislation, field agent responsibility, housing questionnaire and family aggregation, collective and individual housing, procedures for special cases of homelessness and interview techniques.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the head of the Provincial Service of the National Statistics Institute (SPINE) in Cuando Cubango, Ruben Nunes, informed that the training action aims to provide field agents with knowledge that will allow them to obtain reliable data for the success of the Pilot Census in both locations.<\/p>\n

Ruben Nunes said that the 21 field agents from Cuito Cuanavale will focus their activity on 19 census zones, of which one is urban and 18 are rural, while the 19 from Cuangar will work in 17 zones, 13 of which are rural and four are urban.<\/p>\n

The municipal administrator of Cuito Cuanavale, Daniel Bimbi Alfredo, referred that the populations have already been sensitized to adhere to the census process.<\/p>\n

For the success of the census, the administration will rely on the collaboration of traditional, religious, political authorities and civil society.<\/p>\n

The province of Cuando Cubango, the second largest in the country, with more than 199,000 square kilometers, has close to 535,838 inhabitants, according to the 2014 census, with a projection, for 2023, of 697,397 inhabitants.<\/p>\n
