Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, addressed this Thursday, in Luanda, the social, economic and political situation in the country, in meetings with representatives of several recognized churches in Angola.<\/b><\/p>\n

In separate hearings, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o heard concerns of a social nature from religious leaders, and on the occasion the Head of State presented a set of ongoing actions to mitigate their impact on the population’s life.<\/p>\n

At the Presidential Palace, the holder of the Executive Power received the president of the Angolan Christian Forum (FCA), Lui\u0301s Guimbi, the secretary general of the Council of Christian Churches of Angola (CICA), Deolinda Dorcas Teca, and the president of the Pentecostal Assembly of God (ADP), Francisco Sebastia\u0303o.<\/p>\n

Rev. Daniel Antoni Nzinga, from the Evangelical Baptist Church of Angola (IEBA) and Estanislau Barros, from the Evangelical Church of Angola (IEA) were also received.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, reverend Lui\u0301s Guimbi informed that the audience served to exchange information on the current social context of the country, with a focus on maintaining and consolidating peace, as well as the stability of the Angolan nation.<\/p>\n

For her part, Deolinda Dorcas Teca said that the issue of the basic food basket that has been worrying communities, as well as the role of churches in the country, deserved attention at the meeting.<\/p>\n

Reverend Francisco Domingos Sebastia\u0303o, on the other hand, said that he presented the social and economic concerns to the Head of State, having on the occasion expressed the church’s total availability to collaborate in the actions of the Executive.<\/p>\n

In his statements, Reverend Daniel Antoni Nzinga mentioned that he shared with President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o matters that have to do with the institution’s work for the benefit of the entire population.<\/p>\n

“We present some issues that afflict Angolan society, with emphasis on the prices of basic basket products”, said Reverend Estanislau Barros.<\/p>\n

He informed that the Evangelical Church of Angola has been carrying out awareness-raising work with the communities so that they dedicate themselves more to agriculture, as a way of combating hunger and poverty.<\/p>\n

Still following the consultations with religious bodies, the bishop of the Evangelical Lutheran Church of Angola, Toma\u0301s Ndawanapo, said that one of the concerns of the congregation is the increase in prices of products in the basic basket.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe populations are lamenting because they cannot acquire what they need for their table\u201d, expressed Toma\u0301s Ndawanapo.<\/p>\n

The consultation agenda of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o with representatives of religious congregations culminated with an audience with the apostle Elias Pedro, of the Christian Missionary Church of Angola.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, Elias Pedro said that the church is “hand in hand” with the Executive in order to contribute to social actions to improve the conditions of the population.<\/p>\n

As partners of the State, the churches in Angola have sought to develop the role of moralizing society, in addition to contributing to the process of educating the new generations.<\/p>\n
