Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Vice-President of the MPLA, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o, defended this Monday, in Luanda, the strengthening of cooperation relations between the former national liberation movements of Portuguese-speaking African countries, in favor of the development of the respective States.<\/b><\/p>\n

Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o said that the current context calls for greater concertation of political formations in order to influence mutually advantageous cooperation between States, aiming at satisfying the desires of the respective peoples and, in particular, of youth.<\/p>\n

At the opening of the meeting of general secretaries of former liberation movements of Portuguese-speaking African countries, he suggested greater exchange between citizens, politicians, academics, entrepreneurs and businessmen of the respective countries.<\/p>\n

The MPLA leader considered it fundamental that the existing ties between the parties are constantly strengthened and that peace continues to be perennial, in order to face the current challenges in a more concerted and determined way.<\/p>\n

Likewise, he spoke of the need for stability in Portuguese-speaking African states in order to better respond to the aspirations of the people, inherent in the schooling of the new generations, the specialization of staff and medical and medication assistance.<\/p>\n

He considered essential the continued commitment to food production and the industrialization of countries, with an impact on the increase in the number of jobs and consumption of the population.<\/p>\n

Nationalist Parties<\/p>\n

The Vice President of the MPLA recalled the determination of leaders such as Ami\u0301lcar Cabral (Guinea-Bissau and Cape Verde), Samora Machel (Mozambique), Pinto da Costa (Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe) and Agostinho Neto (Angola) for the liberation of African countries of Portuguese language.<\/p>\n

He stated that the struggle for independence is the basic legacy of the peoples, through which they should continue to strengthen good relations and cooperation between parties and States.<\/p>\n

MPLA and Reforms<\/p>\n

The leader informed that the MPLA has been carrying out political, economic and social reforms that are embodied in the adoption of a new posture in the management of public affairs, with the fight against corruption as and impunity as one of the central flags.<\/p>\n

He added that the reforms are also aimed at building a more favorable political environment for attracting national and foreign private investment.<\/p>\n

He added that the fight against all kinds of practices that are harmful to the State and citizens are also part of the government’s agenda, whose focus is the continuous moralization of Angolan society.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, he denounced the stance of political opponents who seek to gain power at all costs and illegitimately, with acts that do not contribute to the healthy and desirable institutional dialogue for the continuous consolidation of the democratic State of law, unity and reconciliation national.<\/p>\n

He declared that his party remains committed to respecting the Constitution and the law, being faithful to the wishes of the people and defending stability, peace, democracy, building a modern, prosperous and inclusive country.<\/p>\n

At the meeting, which takes place under the motto \u201cUnited for history and in the fight for a better future\u201d, the secretary general of the MPLA, Paulo Pombolo, said that it was about a reunion with the collective memory, with the history of the respective peoples, countries and national liberation movements against the Portuguese colonial yoke.<\/p>\n

He informed that the meeting aims to reinforce the bonds of friendship, solidarity and cooperation of the parties that were liberation movements.<\/p>\n

He spoke of the need for regular bilateral or multilateral meetings, taking into account the challenges of the world situation, in order to identify common points of cooperation.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, the former general secretary of the MPLA, Lopo de Nascimento, said it was essential that liberation parties continue to cooperate for the well-being of their peoples, as one of the main ideals of the anti-colonial struggle.<\/p>\n

Julia\u0303o Mateus Paulo, who has also held the position, agrees that despite the changes wrought in the world, the ideals of the parties for improving the social conditions of citizens persist, which is why they must cement the \u201cstrong connection\u201d.<\/p>\n

The meeting will take place in three panels, namely, \u201cDevelopment of the organizational order and of whole life\u201d, \u201cPolitical challenges\u201d and \u201cCooperation and international relations\u201d.<\/p>\n

Participating in the meeting are PAIGC, Anto\u0301nio Patroci\u0301nio Silva, FRELIMO, Roque Samuel, and PAICV, Julia\u0303o Varela, secretary generals, as well as MLSTP-PSD secretary for International Relations, Edite Tem Jua.<\/p>\n

Members of the MPLA Political Bureau secretariat, members of the parliamentary bench and members of the Honor Committee, such as Rodeth Gil, Ismael Martins and Hermi\u0301nio Esco\u0301rcio, were present.<\/p>\n
