Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The second provincial commander of the National Police in Cunene, sub-commissioner Alberto Mutunga, this Tuesday appealed to the staff of the 13th Border Guard Police Unit to reinforce prevention and security on the border with Namibia.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the day commemorating the 45th anniversary of the PGF, to be celebrated on the 26th of August, he encouraged the staff to rigorously fulfill the missions entrusted to them.<\/p>\n

He said that in addition to the mission of ensuring the inviolability of borders, it is up to the PGF to fight other cross-border crimes, with the help of other bodies operating on the border.<\/p>\n

According to the deputy commissioner, “it is necessary that the staff be embedded in the spirit of mission to neutralize acts tending to change the order along the border”.<\/p>\n

To this end, he said it was necessary for the unit to strengthen the organization, observing the principles of discipline, respect for the hierarchy, courtesy, bearing and appearance of the agent of authority as standards that allow to create the respect and admiration of the population.<\/p>\n

He also recommended that the Council bodies strengthen the pedagogical and permanent mission of the staff at their disposal.<\/p>\n

Under the motto “guardians of the Angolan state border, bold and persistent vigilantes always”, the day includes a set of activities such as a round table with survivors of the EX-TGFA, visit to the memorial of Mo\u0302ngua.<\/p>\n

The program subscribes to the football quadrangular 11, under the designation “Commander Jojo\u0301 Cup”, visit to public and private media, prison establishments and the association of people with albinism.<\/p>\n

Under his responsibility, the PGFA in Cunene province controls 460 kilometres, of which 340 are on land and 120 are on rivers, bordering the Republic of Namibia.<\/p>\n

Created on August 26, 1978, under a Law of the then Council of Revolution, the PGFA’s main objective is to safeguard the borders of the national territory, standing out in preventing illegal entries and exits.<\/p>\n

Due to the mission it fulfills, the PGFA is also considered an important body in the fight against illegal practices and other criminal activities that affect the territorial integrity of the Republic of Angola.<\/p>\n
