Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Churches that carry out activities illegally in Cunene province are being cataloged by the Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports office, with a view to regulating the exercise of religious activity.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided, this Wednesday, by the director of the culture office in Cunene, Nelson Ndelimukuata, stressing that the process, which will last three months, is being developed in the six municipalities, in order to have exact control of churches in these conditions and combat the proliferation of illegal churches.<\/p>\n

At the base are the proliferation of illegal churches that also assume the role of hospital units, violating compliance with the law that regulates the exercise of religious activity in the country.<\/p>\n

The official recalled that all churches that intend to exercise their faith must go through the legal route, but unfortunately today there are churches implanted in villages promising cures and other non-authentic acts.<\/p>\n

“They are unrecognized churches that often preach dubious religious doctrines that separate families, through the accusation of fetishism and activities to cure diseases that are treated in hospitals, endangering the lives of many citizens”, he underlined.<\/p>\n

However, he praised the existing partnership between the church and the government, especially in the pacification of spirits, in the moralization of society, in education and teaching, among others.<\/p>\n

Cunene’s provincial Office for Culture, Tourism, Youth and Sports controls 47 recognized religious denominations, 18 in the process of being legalized and 26 illegal.<\/p>\n
