Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The vice-president of the MPLA, Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o, declared that Angola has the potential to contribute to the affirmation of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) and to the well-being of its populations.<\/b><\/p>\n

The party leader commented on the holding of the 43rd Ordinary Summit of Heads of State and Government of SADC which will take place on August 17 of this month, in Luanda, under the theme “Human and financial capital: The main drivers of sustainable industrialization of the SADC region”.<\/p>\n

He welcomed the “strategic vision of Angola” to build the Lobito corridor, to contribute to regional economic and social development and to the fulfillment of the African Union’s 2063 and UN’s 2030 agendas.<\/p>\n

Adds, among Angolan contributions, the installation of the ANGOSAT satellite system capable of improving communications between countries in the region.<\/p>\n

Lui\u0301sa Damia\u0303o recalled that the strategy for creating SADC was also an element of self-assertion by the countries in the region for a better contribution to the African continent and the world.<\/p>\n

The MPLA vice-president also considered it important to improve bilateral and multilateral cooperation relations for the good of the organization.<\/p>\n

SADC is an inter-governmental organization created in 1992 and dedicated to socio-economic cooperation and integration, as well as cooperation in matters of politics and security.<\/p>\n

The organization comprises Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

Angola assumes the rotating presidency of SADC this month, for a period of one year, after having already done so in 2012.<\/p>\n

The Acting President of SADC is the President of the Democratic Republic of Congo, Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi.<\/p>\n
