Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The inhabitants of the village of Ilha N’gala, commune of Cabiri, municipality of Icolo e Bengo, lack roads in conditions for the movement and transport of goods, as well as drinking water, it was learned this Friday .<\/b><\/p>\n

The locality, which is about 27 kilometers from the municipal seat of Icolo e Bengo, still needs electricity, a bridge that can connect it to the village of Lalama and means of transport, mainly for the disposal of products.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the metallic bridge that connects the Island to the commune of Cabiri, a road used only in times of cacimbo, is in poor condition, with the deck all full of holes, requiring expertise from the drivers who circulate there, in order to avoid accidents, so its maintenance is urgent.<\/p>\n

Another observation with the only school, 6068, with four classrooms, which teaches only up to the sixth grade, ensured by eight teachers, four of whom are volunteers.<\/p>\n

According to the director of the establishment, Domingos Albino, the lack of basic social conditions are the reason for the non-permanence of professionals in that locality made up of farmers.<\/p>\n

“The big problem is that the teachers appointed here are transferred to other schools in more urban areas, in less than six months, due to lack of conditions, especially housing”, lamented the director and teacher of the school.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, the more than 850 inhabitants of this entirely agricultural location are also clamoring for better medical and medication assistance, as the health center has two nurses who attend to 30 to 35 patients daily.<\/p>\n

Technicians have feeding difficulties, sleep in the nursing room due to lack of residence and request the vaccination service for pregnant women and newborns.<\/p>\n

“There are children here who have not had any vaccine since they were born and that worries us”, said nurse Silve\u0301rio Evaristo, who pointed out malaria, diarrheal diseases and schistosomiasis as the most frequent pathologies.<\/p>\n

Within the scope of the “Administrator in your neighbourhood” programme, the municipal administrator of Icolo e Bengo, Nelson Funete, promised that some concerns raised will begin to be resolved from the 8th of this month.<\/p>\n

“As of Tuesday, we are going to start solving some of our citizens’ problems, such as the survey for the installation of a water treatment plant, an electric generator, three-wheel motorbikes and earthworks”, promised the manager.<\/p>\n

Today, residents have benefited from various services, such as civil registration, medical and medication assistance, basic food baskets, among others, within the scope of the “Administrator in your neighborhood” project, an initiative of the local administration.<\/p>\n
