Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The governor of Hui\u0301la, Nuno Mahapi, said Wednesday, in Lubango, that the province needs an investment that will allow it to build each year, in this five-year period (2022\/2027), 44 schools with 12 classrooms each, to solve the problem of children outside the education system.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at a consultation meeting that President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o and his assistants held with the provincial government, as part of his visit to Hui\u0301la, the governor identified Education as the primary sector that needs more attention from the authorities, as of the 1,573 existing schools, are registered three thousand 062 outdoor classes and most of these are in Lubango.<\/p>\n

In Health, the governor pointed out as a bottleneck the lack of ambulances in municipal hospitals, where the lack of specialties forces the daily evacuation of patients to the reference hospital, in Lubango.<\/p>\n

According to the governor, the only ambulance that each municipality has, reaches a thousand kilometers per day in evacuations, hence the need to look at the reinforcement of the fleet.<\/p>\n

In terms of energy, Nuno Mahapi welcomed the investments in the extension of the North line (Lau\u0301ca), through the ongoing connection between the power stations in Gove (Huambo) and Matala (Hui\u0301la), auguring new investments so that it also reaches the remaining nine municipalities in the province, as currently only five are connected to the system.<\/p>\n

Water, according to the manager, is another problem for the province, as it does not only affect the municipalities that are experiencing drought, but also Lubango, where the deficit is around 42 percent, so it is necessary to expand the sources of capture and storage, so as not to deplete the aquifer that sustains the current system through springs and artesian holes.<\/p>\n

He pointed out that fetching water in Matala (180 km away) costs a lot, but the benefits would be greater, as it would not only cover Lubango, but Quipungo and Cacula.<\/p>\n

He praised the decision of the PR to authorize the execution of the second phase of the integrated infrastructures of Lubango, which now affects the periphery, where 70 percent of the population is located, which can help to reduce diseases such as malaria, similar to what is happening of the urban hull, which benefited from the first phase.<\/p>\n

Another concern presented to the Holder of the Executive Power is intended with transport, where the province with more than three million inhabitants has little or more 50 operational buses, presenting as an option the expansion of the network of the Moc\u0327a\u0302medes Railway to the urban center , taking advantage of the old circular existing for years.<\/p>\n

In this segment, he called for a review of the flag carrier’s policy of resuming Lubango \u2013 Whindoek (Nambibia) international flights, suspended three years ago due to covid-19, as it was a link that not only benefited Hui\u0301la, but also the surrounding provinces, such as Benguela, Namibe, Cunene and Cuando Cubango.<\/p>\n

He also requested that TAAG review the fare for the ticket to Lubango, which has long been claimed by users (tickets above 120,000 kz to Luanda).<\/p>\n
