Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The core of the workers’ union of the public water and sanitation company (EPAS) in Huambo suspended yesterday the strike called for Friday, after an agreement with the institution’s Board of Directors.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided, this Thursday, by the secretary of the union nucleus of EPAS \u2013 Huambo, Paulo Pires, who said that it was a mutual agreement between the union and the management of the institution that promised to implement the occupational qualification as soon as possible, with the aim of raising workers’ wages.<\/p>\n

After the meeting, he said, the operators decided to suspend the strike called for Friday (11) and continue working without any interruption, so as not to harm customers.<\/p>\n

According to the trade unionist, the Board of Directors was willing to make the payment with the increment between Tuesday and Wednesday of next week, for compliance with the clauses of the new occupational qualifier, approved at the general assembly of workers in 2022.<\/p>\n

The new occupational qualifier provides for an increase in the minimum wage from KZ 38,000 to Kwanzas 62,000.<\/p>\n

The Water Company operates in the centralities \u201cFaustino Muteka\u201d (Caa\u0301la), Halavala (Bailundo), Lossambo (Huambo) and in the cities and surroundings of Huambo and Caa\u0301la, in addition to the municipal town of Ecunha.<\/p>\n
