Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angolan commercial banks have already started the certification process for issuing and making available multi-brand debit cards called \u201cMulticaixa\/Mastercard\u201d, which will allow customers to make payments in Angola and abroad.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a press release, sent this Thursday, the Interbank Services Company (EMIS) clarifies that the creation of this card aims to provide a more comfortable and convenient payment instrument for traveling Angolan citizens, bringing added value in relation to prepaid and credit cards.<\/p>\n

Among other advantages of the multi-brand or \u201cco-badged\u201d debit card, EMIS also points out the convenience for the bank customer and the cost reduction for the issuing bank of this device.<\/p>\n

According to Empresa Interbanca\u0301ria, when the multi-brand debit card is used within the country, it will have as a limit the balance of the account to which it is associated and the prudential limits, daily and per operation, established by instruction n.o 24\/21 of the National Bank of Angola (BNA).<\/p>\n

In the opposite direction (use of the card outside Angola), the Multicaixa\/Mastercard will be limited by the balance of the account, the prudential limits and the limits for use abroad established by the bank issuing the card.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, when the debit card, issued by an Angolan bank, is used outside the country, through an Automatic Teller Machine (CA\/ATM) or Automatic Payment Terminal (APT), a message is sent in real time to the card-issuing bank requesting authorization to carry out the operation.<\/p>\n

This request indicates the amount in foreign currency of the operation, the exchange rate to be used and other commissions.<\/p>\n

Then, the card-issuing bank authorizes or rejects the request. If you authorize it, the transaction is debited from the account associated with the card for the equivalent amount plus commissions due.<\/p>\n

Multicaixa \/ Master\u200b\u200b\u200b\u200bcard<\/p>\n

Pursuant to Notice No. 05\/2017 of July 10 of the BNA, Multicaixa\/Mastercard combines logical cards from two different brands, that is, two payment cards coexist in the same plastic device, one being a Multicaixa brand debit card and one another branded Mastercard.<\/p>\n

In this case, the card will display the identification (logos) of the two brands on the frontispiece.<\/p>\n

According to EMIS, the international brand debit card, used mainly in countries that have their own card brand, as is the case in Angola, when used in Angola, the brand is recognized as Multicaixa, whose payment operations will take place in accordance with the rules of this brand.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, on the opposite side, the recognized brand is Mastercard, also obeying the rules abroad.<\/p>\n

The implementation of this device results from the signing of a partnership agreement between EMIS and Mastercard, recently signed in Luanda.<\/p>\n

EMIS is the interbank services company that manages the Multicaixa Network and the Automated Clearing House of Angola (CCAA), which includes the Payment Card Management System (Multicaixa), the Credit Transfer System (STC), the Check Clearing System (SCC), Direct Debit System (SDD) and Instant Transfer System (STI).<\/p>\n
