Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The visit of the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, to the provinces of Hui\u0301la and Cunene (south of the country), where he verified the degree of execution of projects with social impact was the highlight of the week just ended.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Head of State’s journey had the province of Hui\u0301la as its first stage, where he held a meeting with the local government, as well as inaugurating the 4th Edition of the Feira dos Munici\u0301pios e Cidades de Angola, which took place for the first time in the capital of Huila.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the President of the Republic encouraged provincial governments and municipal administrations to boost local development, with a view to attracting more private investment.<\/p>\n

He urged Angolans to roll up their “sleeves” and work harder, especially in the countryside, with a view to achieving food self-sufficiency and diversifying exports.<\/p>\n

In the province of Cunene, in addition to maintaining contact with the local authorities, the holder of the Executive Power<\/p>\n

noted the progress of the works on the Ndu\u0301e and Calucuve dams, in the Cuvelai, two structural projects within the framework of the commitment to combat drought in the southern region.<\/p>\n

The Head of State ensured, on the occasion, the implementation of the Program to Combat the Effects of the Drought in Southern Angola (PCESSA), emphasizing that the Executive did not show \u201csigns of weakness, much less retreat\u201d regarding the execution of the program that aims to make given the constraints caused by the drought in the region.<\/p>\n

In Ondjiva, capital of the province, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o also saw the construction work on the new General Hospital, which recorded a physical execution of around 84.7 percent.<\/p>\n

The week was also marked by the signing of an agreement for the liberalization, promotion and reciprocal protection of investments between the governments of Angola and Japan.<\/p>\n

The agreement, witnessed by President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, and by the Japanese Minister of Economy, Trade and Industry, Nishimura Yasutoshi, was signed by the Angolan Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, and by the Japanese ambassador to Angola, Suzuki Toru.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o and the Vatican Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, addressed, in Cunene, the strengthening of diplomatic relations between the two States.<\/p>\n

Pietro Parolin said that the meeting with the Head of State was an opportunity to discuss important issues on the existing relations between the States, including the episcopal ordination of Dom Germano Penemote, as apostolic nuncio in Pakistan.<\/p>\n

Another highlight of the week was the meeting of the Economic Commission of the Council of Ministers, which recommended the immediate and effective implementation of measures to stimulate the economy and boost its potential within the framework of the process of economic diversification.<\/p>\n

In the last seven days, the General Inspectorate of State Administration (IGAE) promised to act more incisively and contribute so that other structures can better perform their role, according to the General Inspector of the State, A\u0302ngelo Tavares.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, at the end of an audience with the President of the National Assembly, Carolina Cerqueira, he referred that the intention is to improve inspection and inspection services in the country.<\/p>\n

In addition, the Standing Committee of Senior Officials of SADC analyzed, Angolan capital, the funding of priority projects of the regional organization for the financial year 2023-2024.<\/p>\n

According to the spokesperson for the SADC Summit, which will take place on the 17th of this month, in Luanda, the resources coming from the Member States amount to around US$82 million, equivalent to 67 percent of the projected budget.<\/p>\n

Jorge Cardoso indicated that international cooperation partners will contribute the remaining 33 percent.<\/p>\n
