Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The economic policy pursued by the Angolan government is aimed at expanding the national productive base, as an indispensable condition for economic development that contributes to increased employment and improvement of household disposable income.<\/b><\/p>\n

This statement was made this Monday, in Luanda, by deputy Virgi\u0301lio de Fontes Pereira, president of the MPLA Parliamentary Group, when presenting the Political Declaration of this party, in the plenary session of the National Assembly (AN), which approved, in general, the bills that amend the Value Added Tax (VAT) Code, the Organic Law of the Courts of Appeal and, finally, the Statute of Former Presidents of the Republic, among other diplomas.<\/p>\n

According to the deputy, despite oil production still being the activity with the greatest weight in the Angolan economy, it is the non-oil sector that has grown the most in recent years and has allowed the progressive recovery of economic activity in the post-pandemic, returning jobs citizens and increasing the offer of goods and services in general.<\/p>\n

He defended the need to remain committed to the diversification of the country’s economy, taking into account the recent drop in oil production, a sharp decline in the first quarter of this year, which had repercussions in the reduction of tax and exchange revenues and, consequent pressure on the exchange rate and on prices in the Angolan economy.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the parliamentarian welcomed the economic stimulus measures, announced by the Executive, which reiterate the commitment to increasing and defending national production, as a guarantee of food security, income generation for families and price stability. , particularly food products.<\/p>\n

He considered the measure of greater rationalization of public expenditure to be important and courageous, safeguarding the social sectors and critical projects to boost economic and social development, in view of the sharp change in the assumptions for the 2023 OGE.<\/p>\n

\u201cIn addition, the Executive, aware of the enormous challenges that result from the implementation of VAT, is optimizing it, seeking to reduce its incidence on high consumption goods as much as possible.<\/p>\n

During his speech, Virgi\u0301lio de Fontes Pereira spoke about the Law on Freedom of Assembly and Demonstration, whose revision was already part of the legislative agenda for 2017 to 2022 and continues to be part of the program of essential laws to be approved or updated.<\/p>\n

\u201cContrary to the irresponsible campaign of disinformation that the proponent launched around the discussion, in particular, of the bill on freedom of assembly and demonstration, it was technical differences and not others, which led to the suspension of its discussion\u201d, said the deputy , for whom innovative MPLA proposals have been introduced in this diploma that will make it more modern and adequate to the Constitution and international instruments to which Angola is a party.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Virgi\u0301lio de Fontes Pereira spoke of the role of Angolan youth, whose main problems are linked to the lack of decent employment and housing.<\/p>\n

\u201cYoung people are the main workforce, innovation and progress in the country. Today, young people are called to become a model of moral and civic conduct and positive references in the country\u201d, stressed the deputy, for whom the MPLA Parliamentary Group identifies with the youth and accompanies them.<\/p>\n

For this reason, the president of the MPLA Parliamentary Group suggested that \u201cyoung people cannot fall into the hands of those who, with false promises and cunning speech, taking advantage of the difficulties with which they live, instrumentalize them to achieve their political objectives, even if by unconstitutional means\u201d.<\/p>\n
