Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Telecommunications, Information Technologies and Social Communication, Ma\u0301rio Oliveira, said Thursday, in Luanda, that technical work continues so that SADC countries can benefit from the services of the Angolan communication satellite (ANGOSAT 2) .<\/b><\/p>\n

The official was speaking within the framework of the 43rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of SADC, held in the Angolan capital, with the presence of the Presidents of Mozambique, Botswana, Malawi, Namibia, South Africa, Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), Zambia and Zimbabwe, the Vice President of Tanzania and representatives of the Seychelles, Mauritius and Comoros.<\/p>\n

According to the minister, among the countries interested in the services, the Republic of Zambia is more advanced, where technicians are perfecting their work so that this country can benefit from the signal from the satellite in orbit.<\/p>\n

Meanwhile, other countries such as Botswana and DRC have also expressed interest in ANGOSAT 2 services.<\/p>\n

“The process is moving forward and we hope, soon, that these countries will actually have ANGOSAT 2 services”, said the Angolan official, reiterating that “the satellite is healthy and in operational conditions”.<\/p>\n

Angola already benefits from satellite services since November 4, 2022, in position 23 degrees East, its operating position.<\/p>\n

The Republic of Angola took over, this Thursday, the rotating presidency of the Southern African Development Community (SADC) for the period 2023\/2024. Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o thus presides over the regional organization, replacing Fe\u0301lix Tshisekedi, from the Democratic Republic of Congo.<\/p>\n

The summit took place under the motto \u201cHuman and financial capital: key factors for the sustainable industrialization of the SADC Region\u201d,<\/p>\n

The assumption of office, for the third time, took place within the framework of the 43rd Summit of Heads of State and Government of SADC, which Luanda hosted.<\/p>\n

The Southern African Development Community is an inter-governmental organization created in 1992 and dedicated to socio-economic cooperation and integration, as well as cooperation in matters of politics and security, of the countries of Southern Africa.<\/p>\n

The main objectives of SADC are to achieve economic development, peace and security, growth, reduce poverty, raise the standard and quality of life of the populations of Southern Africa, and support disadvantaged social strata through regional integration. .<\/p>\n

The organization includes Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n
