Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The acting President of the Southern African Development Community (SADC), Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, pledged this Thursday, in Luanda, to mobilize resources to invest in infrastructure, roads, railways, ports and airports, with investments in the water and energy sectors.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, who assumed the rotating Presidency of this inter-governmental organization, these two goods (water and energy) are fundamental to talk about industrialization in the SADC region.<\/p>\n

For the President, one of the region’s bets is linked to human capital, to ensure greater performance, in the coming years, with “quite seriousness” in the industrialization of the region and the continent.<\/p>\n

Speaking at a press conference at the end of the 43rd Summit of SADC Heads of State and Government, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o stated that industry can only be discussed in locations where water and energy are guaranteed.<\/p>\n

Therefore, the acting President of SADC defended the need for some countries to dedicate themselves to increasing production and sharing this essential good with the other members of the organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cWhoever has excess energy should make it available to other countries in the region that need it\u201d, defended the Angolan Head of State, reiterating that the bet has been made and work remains to be done to try to materialize the decisions that the Summit took.<\/p>\n

Asked about the legacy to be left in fulfilling the presidency of SADC, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o said that he will dedicate himself to complying with the decisions taken by the Luanda Summit, in all areas, with emphasis on economic and social development, as well as defense and security of the countries of the organization.<\/p>\n

\u201cFortunately, with the exception of situations in eastern DRC and Cabo Delgado, in Mozambique, in general the situation in our region can be considered stable\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Angola fulfills the agreements<\/p>\n

On Angola’s regional integration, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o referred that the country has subscribed to all agreements in the region that have to do with regional integration.<\/p>\n

According to the President, the country will seek to respect, as much as possible, its compliance, being aware that Angola will only gain if this integration effectively takes place.<\/p>\n

\u201cIt is something that does not depend on just one country, seen in isolation, however, we all have the same interest and, if we signed, it is because yes, we have that interest and fight to achieve this great objective of regional integration\u201d, he pointed out, sustaining that everyone wins and believes “absolutely that all Member States of the organization will win when regional integration effectively takes place”.<\/p>\n

This time, he defends that each Member State contributes to the achievement of this objective of regional integration.<\/p>\n

SADC is made up of Angola, Botswana, Comoros, Democratic Republic of Congo, Eswatini, Lesotho, Madagascar, Malawi, Mauritius, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa, Tanzania, Zambia and Zimbabwe.<\/p>\n

It is an inter-governmental organization, created in 1992 and dedicated to socio-economic cooperation and integration, as well as cooperation in matters of politics and security.<\/p>\n
