Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Ombudsman of Justice of Angola, in the last six months, 500 cases of land conflicts across the country, informed, this Friday, in Luanda, the Ombudsman, Florbela Arau\u0301jo.<\/b><\/p>\n

Of the numbers indicated, the municipalities of Cacuaco and Viana, in the province of Luanda, lead with half of the cases received.<\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, on the sidelines of a lecture on \u201cThe Role of the Ombudsman in the Resolution of Land Conflicts\u201d, Florbela Arau\u0301jo said that the provinces of Cuanza Sul, Benguela and Hui\u0301la accumulate the other cases.<\/p>\n

\u201cThe Ombudsman mediates by creating mediation commissions, but others, due to their specificity, are referred to the courts. The municipalities of Cacuaco and Viana register, together, 250 cases\u201d, said the official.<\/p>\n

Alongside the data presented by the Angolan Ombudsman, the Attorney General’s Office announced, in June, the creation of the Unified Command Post project, an initiative aimed at implementing, in municipal administrations, offices to resolve land conflicts .<\/p>\n

In this sense, Florbela Arau\u0301jo clarified that the two structures are autonomous and ruled out any possibility of \u201ccollision\u201d between the interests of the Ombudsman and the activities of the Unified Command Post in this area.<\/p>\n

\u201cThere are different roles. The Attorney General’s Office has the role of mediation, which the Regulation of the Land Law assigns. Although there is this detail, related to the Unified Command Post, the Ombudsman cannot fail to exercise its role, as it has the role of mediation, that of bringing the parties together and seeing to what extent it can resolve the matter without, however , go to court, so it does not interfere with the role of the Attorney General’s Office or provincial governments\u201d, he clarified.<\/p>\n

According to the PGR, the said posts will bring together the various bodies involved in the administration of justice to specifically help with all matters related to land.<\/p>\n
