Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The president of the Association of Judges of Angola (AJA), Ismael Silva, said Monday, in Huambo, that citizens need to look to the courts as ideal places for the resolution, within a reasonable space, of disputes.<\/b><\/p>\n

In a press conference, which served to present the 1st National Congress of Judges, taking place from 24 to 25 November, in the city of Huambo, under the motto \u201cThe Court and the Judge: the challenges of Angolan justice\u201d, the judicial magistrate he stated that the way the population views the courts depends, to a large extent, on the speed with which the judicial processes are carried out.<\/p>\n

\u201cTherefore, it is important for the citizen to be able to say that I can solve my problem, not by my own hands, but because there is an institution that, when provoked, can quickly respond to my matter (…)\u201d, he concluded.<\/p>\n

According to Ismael Silva, holding the 1st National Congress of Judges essentially aims to address these issues in greater depth and point out the best ways to improve Angolan justice, which still does not respond, with the necessary speed, to citizen issues .<\/p>\n

He added that the event will seek to discuss multidisciplinary issues and find ways, with a view to increasing the understanding of the population around the ideal Court, mainly in the field of procedural celerity.<\/p>\n

The congress, in an initiative of the Association of Judges of Angola, will be able to count on the participation of 200 judges from the common and military forum, as well as auditors of justice (trainee judicial magistrates), including lawyers and guests from Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau , Mozambique, Portugal and East Timor.<\/p>\n

Ismael Silva added that the event will aim to bring together Judicial Magistrates to debate, in an academic way, the necessary transformations of the Angolan Judiciary, considering the current challenges of justice and to deepen the debates on the importance of the Judiciary in a democratic State and of law, taking into account the other realities.<\/p>\n

He added that the event will also feature sociologists and academics linked to other branches of knowledge.<\/p>\n

Created in 2015, AJA controls, across the country, more than 300 members.<\/p>\n
