Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Mario Di\u0301az-Canel Bermu\u0301dez, expressed in Luanda, his interest in strengthening economic, commercial and financial cooperation with Angola, in line with the existing “excellent historical relations”.<\/b><\/p>\n

Miguel Bermu\u0301dez, who was speaking at the Pala\u0301cio da Cidade Alta at the opening of official talks between delegations from both countries, highlighted the fact that Angola is the African nation where collaboration is more \u201cenergetic\u201d in different spheres.<\/p>\n

However, throughout his speech, the President highlighted, among other areas, the existing potential in the field of renewable energies and biotechnology.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe hope that we can jointly take advantage, in the best and most efficient way, of the existing potential to better increase economic, commercial and financial relations\u201d, he said.<\/p>\n

Still during his speech, he reiterated his country’s commitment to remain committed to the increase of economic and social links, as well as to cooperation based on mutual interest, making available, this time, the human resources of that country for the development of two peoples.<\/p>\n

Cuba appreciates support<\/p>\n

The President took advantage of the occasion, on behalf of the Cuban people, to thank the countless samples of “affection and solidarity” shown by Angola in recent years, from sending donations (for various extraordinary events) and advocacy for the lifting of the embargo imposed , for years, across the United States of America.<\/p>\n

Miguel Mario Di\u0301az-Canel Bermu\u0301dez also thanked the position that Angola has maintained in organizations such as the African Union (AU), United Nations (UN) and other multilateral forums, so that the unfair measures imposed that also affect third countries are lifted, in addition to the Cuban people.<\/p>\n

Therefore, it reaffirms Cuba’s will to continue to consolidate the respectful and friendly relationship with the people and Government of Angola.<\/p>\n

\u201cMy first visit to Luanda as President of Cuba continues the systematic exchange of high-level visits that take place in both nations and contribute to consolidating the bilateral bond that dates back to 1975\u201d, stressing that \u201cCuba and Angola are united with indestructible bonds of blood, friendship and brotherhood\u201d.<\/p>\n

The two countries maintain excellent cooperation relations in various areas, such as security, education, health, transport, public works, construction, oil, sports, culture, tourism and agriculture.<\/p>\n

Their diplomatic relations were established on November 15, 1975, four days after Angola’s independence, and a year later they signed the General Cooperation Agreement, which gave rise to the Bilateral Commission.<\/p>\n

This Caribbean State has trained many Angolan staff and aspires to greater involvement in economic cooperation with Angola, the country it supported in the war against the apartheid regime in South Africa.<\/p>\n
