Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Cuando Cubango is open to private investment, with emphasis on the agro-industrial sector, to leverage the sustainable development of the region, assured the deputy governor for the social, political and economic sector, Helena Chimena.<\/b><\/p>\n

\u201cAnyone who wants to invest in our province will be welcome. The government is open to any initiative that contributes to the well-being of our population, creating job opportunities, as well as to the growth of the local economy\u201d, highlighted Helena Chimena, in statements.<\/p>\n

The minister, who addressed the province’s participation in the Feira dos Munici\u0301pios e Cidades de Angola (FMCA), held in Lubango, Hui\u0301la province, stressed that this province has many potentialities, which were exposed at the event, such as agriculture, livestock, industrial, cultural and tourist.<\/p>\n

The perspective, according to the vice-governor, was to attract the largest number of investors from various fields, which was achieved, since many businessmen, both national and foreign, expressed their interest in exploring the potential of this region, in order to contribute in the diversification of the country’s economy, in particular Cuando Cubango.<\/p>\n

Without naming any names, he added that four national companies had expressed, in the near future, their intention to prospect potentialities, mainly in the production of peanuts and in the agro-industrial and mining sector, depending on the manufacture of pig iron, in the municipality of Cuchi.<\/p>\n

Helena Chimena added that the businessmen intend to export peanuts due to its natural quality, a fact that motivates its demand in the national and international market.<\/p>\n

The same happens with garlic from Mavinga, which is already exported to neighboring countries, such as Zambia and Namibia.<\/p>\n

The exhibition of the \u201cmakakata\u201d plant, considered to cure many diseases, fresh and dried fish from the Cuito river, cassava, massango, massambala, cowpea, onion grown in Tumpu, local wood, with emphasis on Mussivi, with a duration of more than 100 years for deterioration, among other potentialities, also deserved the attention of investors.<\/p>\n

Also worthy of note is the exhibition of the Okavango – Zambezi Cross-border Project, which includes Angola, in the part of Cuando Cubango, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Zimbabwe, aimed at exploring the tourist potential.<\/p>\n

Through the municipality of Dirico, in the nine that make up Cuando Cubango, the province won two awards, the municipality’s Resilience and Best Cultural Participation, due to the representation of the local ethnolinguistic minority group Sa\u0303 (Khoisan).<\/p>\n
