Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Peasants associated with the Wembele cooperative, in Quicombo commune, Sumbe municipality (Cuanza Sul), plan to harvest more than 40 tonnes of onions in the current agricultural campaign.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to its manager, Cardoso Joa\u0303o Alfredo, the objective is to surpass the 30 tons of the last agricultural season, depending on the investment applied and the commitment of the associates.<\/p>\n

He informed that, in the current agricultural season, seven tonnes of onions had already been harvested, which were marketed in the cities of Sumbe and Porto-Amboim, as well as in the province of Luanda.<\/p>\n

In addition to onions, he added that the cooperative also produces vegetables, corn and bananas.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the person in charge made it known that the cooperative faces some difficulties, including the lack of tractors for land preparation.<\/p>\n

\u201cUnfortunately we have faced some difficulties. One of them is the lack of tractors, a situation that has forced our associates to prepare the land manually, making it extremely difficult to expand production. At the moment, of the 50 hectares available, only 30 are being explored\u201d, he lamented.<\/p>\n

The Wembele cooperative has 25 peasant associations.<\/p>\n
