Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic of Cuba, Miguel Mario Di\u0301az-Canel Bermu\u0301dez, left Angola this Tuesday, after carrying out a 72-hour state visit, aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation.<\/b><\/p>\n

During the three days, and among other activities, the Cuban statesman laid a wreath of flowers at the cemetery of Alto das Cruzes on the tomb of his compatriot, Rau\u0301l Di\u0301az Arguelles Garcia, who died in combat in Angola in December 1975.<\/p>\n

This Central American president also visited the Angola and Cuba school, in the municipality of Cazenga, built in 1988 by Cuban technicians, within the framework of bilateral cooperation. At that institution, he offered books and planted a tree.<\/p>\n

Miguel Mario Di\u0301az-Canel Bermu\u0301dez was also in the National Assembly, where he spoke in a formal session reserved for him. Earlier, he went to the Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto Memorial, to pay homage to the Founder of the Nation.<\/p>\n

Angola and Cuba maintain excellent cooperation relations in various areas, with emphasis on Security, Education, Health, Transport, Public Works, Construction, Petroleum, Sports, Culture, Tourism and Agriculture.<\/p>\n

The two States established diplomatic relations on November 15, 1975, four days after Angola’s independence and, a year later, signed the General Cooperation Agreement, which created the Bilateral Commission.<\/p>\n

This Caribbean state has trained many Angolan citizens and aspires to greater involvement in economic cooperation with Angola, the country it supported in the war against the apartheid regime in Africa.<\/p>\n
