Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>One hundred and 24 foreign citizens left, in the second quarter of this year, the Angolan province of Cunene, where they remained in an irregular migratory situation.<\/b><\/p>\n

Compared to the same period in 2022, there was a decrease of six illegal immigrants who left the country, following initiatives by the Migration and Foreigners Service (SME) in Cunene, according to the agency’s spokesman, 3rd Deputy Head of migration Isomar Matias.<\/p>\n

The spokesperson said they were 117 citizens from Namibia, two from Ethiopia and one from Syria, Eritrea, China, Somalia and Brazil.<\/p>\n

He explained that, in the same period, SME specialists carried out 472 inspection actions in all municipalities of the province, within the scope of preventing and combating illegal immigration and related crimes.<\/p>\n

Isomar Matias also said that 176 Angolans had returned from Namibia, where they were in an irregular situation.<\/p>\n

The SME in Cunene controls 713 foreign citizens, with work visas, temporary stay visas, residents, convicts, detainees and asylum seekers.<\/p>\n

Cunene province shares 460 kilometers of border with Namibia, 340 on land and 120 on rivers. It has border posts in Santa Clara, Calongo, Okaluque and Ruacana\u0301.<\/p>\n
