Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, reiterated, this Tuesday, the Executive’s strategy regarding the commitment to promoting Angolan women, including in management positions in the State apparatus.<\/b><\/p>\n

The Angolan Head of State intervened at the swearing-in ceremony of Counselor Judge Efige\u0301nia Mariquinha dos Santos Lima Clemente, in her capacity as vice-president of the Supreme Court (TS).<\/p>\n

“We will continue to bet on this fringe of society in the certainty that this is the only way we will know how to build a great country with men and women, side by side, without discrimination, for all functions (…), expressed the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n

Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o underlined the fact that she is “one more lady to add to the many cases of ladies who occupy important positions in the Angolan State apparatus, a sign of good performance”.<\/p>\n

I take advantage of this opportunity, continued the Holder of Executive Power, to congratulate her on the trust she has earned from the Supreme Court to, as of today, take on such an important position.<\/p>\n

President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o also highlighted the commitment, zeal and dedication of women who assume management positions at other levels.<\/p>\n

At the end of the act, in declarations to the press, the vice-president of the TS, Efigenia Clemente, stated that as assistant to the holder of this body, she will work to improve, even more, the functioning of the courts, in order to restore the confidence of citizens in the legal activity.<\/p>\n

He expressed appreciation and gratitude to his workmates, advocating for unity in the class, with a view to administering justice on behalf of the people.<\/p>\n

Founded in 1988, the Supreme Court is the highest instance of the common jurisdiction of the judiciary in Angola. It is made up of 21 advisory judges, including its president and vice-president.<\/p>\n

Efige\u0301nia Lima Clemente was appointed by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, after approval of the results of the election process for candidates to the post, carried out by the Superior Council of the Judiciary.<\/p>\n

Among the three candidates, Counselor Judge Efige\u0301nia Lima Clemente was the most voted, having achieved eight votes, against six for Daniel Modesto Geraldes and one conquered by Maria Teresa Marc\u0327al Andre\u0301 Baptista Borges.<\/p>\n
