{"id":42849,"date":"2023-08-24T06:19:04","date_gmt":"2023-08-24T06:19:04","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/?p=42849"},"modified":"2023-08-24T05:26:31","modified_gmt":"2023-08-24T05:26:31","slug":"anpg-and-sonangol-prepare-to-explore-block-kon11","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\/all-news\/anpg-and-sonangol-prepare-to-explore-block-kon11","title":{"rendered":"ANPG and Sonangol prepare to explore Block KON11"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #ff6600\"><strong>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola. <\/strong><\/span><b>The National Agency for Petroleum, Gas and Biofuels (ANPG) and the Exploration and Production Business Unit of Sonangol (UNEP) announced this Tuesday the start of joint work to implement preparatory actions for drilling and assessment of the Block KON11, in the Onshore Kwanza Basin, inactive since 1996.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>Located in the municipality of Cabo Ledo, the operation of Block KON11 is the responsibility of the consortium made up of Sonangol Pesquisa e Produc\u0327a\u0303o (30%), as operator, Brite&#8217;s Oil &amp; Gas (25%), Grupo Simples Oil, and Atlas Petroleum Exploration Worldwide (20% each), as well as Omega Risk Solutions Angola (5%).<\/p>\n<p>At the moment, according to an ANPG note technical procedures are in progress to guarantee the execution of the contract within the safety standards and respect for the environment required by the industry.<\/p>\n<p>This concession was awarded within the framework of the 2020 Bidding, promoted by the National Concessionaire, ANPG.<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;If the drilling yields positive results, the consortium will then proceed with the survey of geological and geophysical data (G&amp;G), with the aim of improving the mapping of the Block&#8217;s structures, without jeopardizing the preliminary development aimed at restarting production&#8221;, reads if in the document.<\/p>\n<p>For ANPG and Sonangol, the resumption of exploration activities in Block KON11 represents an important milestone for the Angolan oil industry, as it is the effective reactivation of operations in an onshore block that has not been operated since the 1990s, namely in the adverse context of the current world economic situation.<\/p>\n<p>National oil production remains at 1.1 million barrels per day (BOPD), which is expected to remain this year.<\/p>\n<p>Angola&#8217;s oil production comes from 16 oil concessions, 13 in the maritime zone (offshore) and three in the land zone (onshore).<\/p>\n<p><strong>For More News And Analysis About <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/angola\">Angola<\/a> Follow <a href=\"https:\/\/www.africa-press.net\/\">Africa-Press<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Africa-Press &#8211; Angola.
