Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of the Interior, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho, reaffirmed this Tuesday, in Luanda, the importance of greater collaboration between civil society and public security authorities in the fight against crime in the country.<\/b><\/p>\n

The minister made these statements at the first extraordinary extended advisory council of the Ministry of the Interior in 2023, which runs from the 22nd to the 23rd of this month, in Luanda.<\/p>\n

In this sense, the minister reiterated the appeal to citizens, churches, traditional authorities, residents’ commissions, civil associations, among other social actors, to participate in the efforts undertaken by the Ministry of the Interior to reduce the crime rate, by denouncing cases and involved.<\/p>\n

On the other hand, Euge\u0301nio Laborinho highlighted the importance of developing efforts to reduce road accidents, which has been one of the main concerns of the Angolan Government, taking into account the high rate of deaths and injuries caused on the country’s roads.<\/p>\n

Therefore, he appealed, once again, \u201cto the participation of citizens and civil society, in general, in the public consultation process on the proposed amendment to the Highway Code, launched on August 8th of this year\u201d.<\/p>\n

During his intervention, he also drew the attention of the Civil Protection and Fire Service, to greater coordination with local entities, in the sense of greater prevention to mitigate the effects and reduce the risk of disasters, taking into account the fact that we enter the rainy season.<\/p>\n

For two days, the members of the Ministry of the Interior will address and define, among other matters, the guiding strategies for improving the organization and functioning of the sector.<\/p>\n

In this context, the public security report for the first half of 2023, the projects for the new Organic Statute of the Ministry of the Interior, the Presidential Decree that amends the Organic Statute of the National Police, the Regulation of the Provincial Integrated Public Security Centres, as well as the main actions of the Ministry of the Interior regarding the 2050 Long Term Strategy and the Sectoral Development Plan.<\/p>\n
