Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of Brazil, Luiz Ina\u0301cio \u201cLula\u201d da Silva, arrived this Thursday night in Luanda, for a 96-hour State visit to Angola, with a view to strengthening bilateral cooperation and strengthening ties of friendship between the two peoples.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the Brazilian Head of State was received by the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio, in the presence of the governor of the province of Luanda, Manuel Homem, and members of the Diplomatic Mission of that South American country in Angola.<\/p>\n

Lula da Silva will remain on Angolan soil until Sunday (27), the day on which he will leave for Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, for the XIV Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), an organization of which Angola and Brazil are members.<\/p>\n

The program for the visit of the Brazilian PR to Angola foresees, for Friday (25th) morning, a trip to Prac\u0327a da Repu\u0301blica for the laying of a wreath on the sarcophagus of the founder of the Angolan Nation, Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, and the signature of the institution’s Book of Honor.<\/p>\n

The agenda released this Thursday by the Press Secretary of the Presidential Palace also includes, for Friday, a moment for decoration and a meeting with his Angolan counterpart, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, before accompanying the signing of cooperation agreements .<\/p>\n

In the pipeline are 11 cooperation agreements aimed essentially at the fields of agriculture, health, inclusive education, transport, the creation of small and medium-sized companies and the processing, treatment and transfer of public administration data.<\/p>\n

In the afternoon, Lula da Silva will go to the National Assembly, where he will speak in a special solemn session in his honor, before participating with Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, in the closing session of the Angola-Brazil Economic Forum, in the beginning of the evening.<\/p>\n

On Saturday, he will go to the Guimara\u0303es Rosa Institute (Centro Cultural Angola-Brasil), where he will inaugurate the Espac\u0327o Ovi\u0301dio de Melo and will hold a meeting with the Brazilian community residing in Angola, before the official farewell ceremony, at the Presidential Palace, in the city of High.<\/p>\n

President Lula da Silva arrives in Luanda from Johannesburg, South Africa, where he participated, from the 22nd to the 24th of August, in the 15th Summit of the BRICS, a bloc of countries with emerging economies formed by Brazil, Russia, India, China and South Africa.<\/p>\n

Angola and Brazil have been allies for 43 years, following the signing of the Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation Agreement on 11 June 1980, allowing exchanges in the areas of health, culture, public administration and professional training.<\/p>\n

Brazil was the first country in the world to recognize Angola’s independence, proclaimed on November 11, 1975, by the then President Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto, and both States also cooperate in the sectors of education, the environment, sports, statistics and agriculture.<\/p>\n
