Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Minister of Fisheries and Marine Resources, Carmen do Sacramento Neto, reiterated, in the municipality of Bai\u0301a Farta (Benguela), the commitment of the Angolan Government to reinforce fisheries inspection.<\/b><\/p>\n

According to the minister, who has been working since Thursday in Benguela province, despite the limitations of the inspection area, due to lack of means, the sector has been prosecuting and applying fines to transgressions in the fishing activity.<\/p>\n

As for trawl fishing, Carmen do Sacramento Neto informed that the Angolan legal system contemplates that Angolan and foreign companies carry it out.<\/p>\n

According to the official, most of the companies that practice this type of fishing are registered in the online system and carry out the activity with authorization from the Ministry of Fisheries.<\/p>\n

The minister clarified that what has been happening, both with national and foreign vessels, is not respecting the areas indicated for trawling, committing transgressions.<\/p>\n

In the same vein, he announced, for the near future, technological innovations that will allow the placement of GPS devices on vessels for better inspection, controlling everything from going to sea, fishing area, among others.<\/p>\n

This measure will better guide inspection teams in the fishing zones and product destination, so that transgressions at sea do not go unpunished.<\/p>\n

The minister also said that salt production is one of the ministry’s bets, intending to bring a relief in the production of salt pans in operation and project others.<\/p>\n

He also defended the need for refining and transforming salt.<\/p>\n

The minister is in Benguela province where she is taking an X-ray of the various situations that afflict the sector, especially the business community.<\/p>\n

The minister visited various fisheries, salt pans, fisheries research centre, among other organizations in Bai\u0301a Farta, Benguela and Lobito.<\/p>\n
