Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola praised the steps taken in the last two years for the sustainable development of the countries of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP), within the framework of strengthening the organization.<\/b><\/p>\n

Angola’s position was expressed by the Minister of State and Chief of Staff of the President of the Republic, Ada\u0303o de Almeida, on Friday, at the opening of the meeting of the CPLP Council of Ministers.<\/p>\n

At the preparatory meeting for the XIV Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP, the Angolan official recalled that the last two years of Angola’s leadership in the Community had a political-diplomatic agenda centered on cooperation.<\/p>\n

He said it was about economic and business cooperation to boost a sustainable socio-economic development of Member States.<\/p>\n

At the session of the Council of Ministers, antechamber, for the meeting on Sunday (27), Ada\u0303o de Almeida underlined that important steps were taken to boost the socio-economic development of the member countries.<\/p>\n

The Minister of State considered that there had been, during Angola’s mandate, a substantial increase in the interest of other countries in obtaining the status of associate and consultative observer of the organization, which for him reflects the growing importance of the CPLP at an international level.<\/p>\n

Ada\u0303o de Almeida reaffirmed the strengthening of dialogue and cooperation with countries interested in sharing the same principles, as well as praising the role of the ministerial concertation body, for its preponderance in the future of the organization and the citizens of the Community.<\/p>\n

During the XIV Summit of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP, Angola will transfer the rotating presidency of the organization to Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe.<\/p>\n

Upon assuming the presidency of the CPLP Council of Ministers, the Minister of Foreign Affairs, Cooperation and Communities of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 Pri\u0301ncipe, Gareth Guadalupe, congratulated Angola for having brought the fourth axis, economic and business cooperation, to the organisation.<\/p>\n

On the occasion, the head of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe’s diplomacy reaffirmed the motto of his country’s mandate at the head of the CPLP’s destiny “Youth and sustainability.<\/p>\n

The CPLP, which includes Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and Timor-Leste, holds the XVI Conference of Heads of State and Government, in Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncip, in the next Sunday.<\/p>\n
