the Presidents of Cuba and Brazil, respectively Miguel Mario Di\u0301az-Canel Bermu\u0301dez and Luiz Ina\u0301cio \u201cLula\u201d da Silva, aimed at strengthening cooperation with Angola, dominated the political news of the week ending Saturday.<\/b><\/p>\n<p>At the invitation of the Angolan Head of State, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, the President of Cuba paid a 72-hour visit to the country, which allowed him to meet his Angolan counterpart, participate in a solemn session of the National Assembly and pay homage to the Cuban general Rau\u0301l Di\u0301az Arguelles Garcia, who died in combat in Angola in December 1975.<\/p>\n<p>He visited the Angola and Cuba school, built by Cuban technicians in 1988 as part of bilateral cooperation, offered books, planted a tree and defended the need to strengthen relations between the two countries.<\/p>\n<p>Miguel Mario Di\u0301az-Canel Bermu\u0301dez went to the Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto Memorial, where he paid homage to the Founder of the Angolan Nation.<\/p>\n<p>President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o was invited for an official visit to Cuba, in order to participate in the Summit of the Group of 77+China, in Havana, between the 15th and 16th of September this year.<\/p>\n<p>The invitation, already accepted by President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, was made by his Cuban counterpart, Miguel Mario Di\u0301az-Canel Bermu\u0301dez.<\/p>\n<p>The Group of 77+China is a coalition of countries, founded in 1964, and aimed at promoting the collective economic interests of the members, as well as creating a greater capacity for joint negotiation.<\/p>\n<p>The President of Brazil, Luiz Ina\u0301cio \u201cLula\u201d da Silva, made a 96-hour State visit, with a view to reinforcing bilateral cooperation and strengthening the ties of friendship between the two peoples.<\/p>\n<p>As part of his stay, the Republics of Angola and Brazil signed seven (7) new bilateral cooperation agreements.<\/p>\n<p>These are agreements in the field of carrying out professional activities for the remuneration of dependents of the diplomatic, consular, military, administrative and technical staff of the diplomatic and consular missions, as well as cooperation in sustainable tourism, two instruments initialed by the holders of Foreign Affairs of Angola and from Brazil, Te\u0301te Anto\u0301nio and Mauro Vieira, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>Likewise, the Memorandum of Understanding in the field of Agriculture was signed, with a view to stimulating broad development in the fields of agricultural and livestock systems.<\/p>\n<p>In the field of Health, the parties agreed on a Cooperation project for the Diagnosis and Treatment of Leprosy\/leprosy, which will improve the assistance provided to patients in the Angolan health system with regard to early detection and treatment of the disease.<\/p>\n<p>The document was signed by the Ministers of Health of Angola and Brazil, Silva Lutucuta and Nisia Trindade, respectively.<\/p>\n<p>The two countries also signed an agreement in the area of \u200b\u200bEducation, the project of which is called &#8220;Escola para Todos&#8221;, an initiative that foresees consolidating the national policy of special education oriented towards school inclusion.<\/p>\n<p>During his stay, President Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o decorated his Brazilian counterpart, Lula da Silva, with the &#8220;Ordem Anto\u0301nio Agostinho Neto&#8221;, the highest distinction of the Angolan State.<\/p>\n<p>The Brazilian President awarded his counterpart Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o with the Ordem Nacional do Cruzeiro do Sul, a title that honors notable personalities born outside the country.<\/p>\n<p>This week, the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, reiterated the Executive&#8217;s strategy regarding the commitment to promoting Angolan women, including in management positions in the State apparatus.<\/p>\n<p>The Angolan Head of State intervened at the swearing-in ceremony of Counselor Judge Efige\u0301nia Mariquinha dos Santos Lima Clemente, in her capacity as vice-president of the Supreme Court (TS).<\/p>\n<p>&#8220;We will continue to bet on this fringe of society in the certainty that this is the only way we will know how to build a great country with men and women, side by side, without discrimination, for all functions (&#8230;), expressed the President of the Republic.<\/p>\n<p>Also noteworthy was the appointment, by the President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, of Teresa Manuel Bento da Silva as Deputy General Director of the External Intelligence Service (SIE), replacing Ma\u0301rio Anto\u0301nio da Costa Dias, exonerated moments before.<\/p>\n<p>The President of the Republic decreed the appointment and dismissal after &#8220;hearing the National Security Council&#8221;.<\/p>\n<p>Another political highlight of the week was the second ordinary session of the National Road and Traffic Planning Council (CNVOT), chaired by the Vice-President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, which discussed, among other topics, the situation of road accidents in the first half of the year of the current year.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting also served to address \u201ckey prevention and road safety actions\u201d, to be implemented by December 31st.<\/p>\n<p>The CNVOT is the consultation body for the Holder of Executive Power in matters relating to road and traffic ordering at national level. It is coordinated by the Vice-President of the Republic.<\/p>\n<p>The Ministry of the Interior held its first extraordinary extended advisory council, from the 22nd to the 23rd of this month, in Luanda.
