Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The acting commander of the National Police in Cunene, sub-commissioner Alberto Mutunga, this Saturday instructed the corporation’s staff to redouble vigilance in the control and protection of the border between Angola and Namibia.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking at the act alluding to the celebrations of the 45th anniversary of the Border Guard Police (PGF), Alberto Mutunga said that prevention and security at the border perimeter should be a priority in the daily actions of the corporation.<\/p>\n

He said it was necessary to reinforce the pedagogical education of the staff, in order to comply with and better respond to threats to changes in public order and security in the country.<\/p>\n

The commander of the 13th Unit of the PGF of Cunene, Fe\u0301lix Nelson, said that in the last year, 4,084 cases of border violations were registered, of which 2,215 per exit and 1,869 per entry.<\/p>\n

He highlighted that 37 thousand and 38 citizens were questioned, being 36 thousand 998 nationals and 40 foreigners, among Namibians, Ethiopians, Somalis, Kenyans, Zimbabweans, Gambians and Democratic Congolese.<\/p>\n

He made it known that for smuggling goods, 17 vehicles, 18 thousand and 235 liters of fuel, five motorbikes, 511 thousand USD, supposedly fake and 12 kilograms of marijuana and cocaine, were seized.<\/p>\n

The PGFA in Cunene province controls 460 kilometers of border with the Republic of Namibia, of which 340 are on land and 120 are on rivers.<\/p>\n

Created on August 26, 1978, under a Law of the then Council of Revolution, the PGFA aims to safeguard the borders of the national territory.<\/p>\n
