Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, travels to Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe on Sunday, to participate in the XIV Conference of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP).<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was released this Saturday by the Secretary of the President of the Republic for Institutional and Press Affairs, Lui\u0301s Fernando, adding that the return of the Head of State to Luanda is scheduled for the same day.<\/p>\n

During the Summit, the organizing country, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, will assume the presidency of the organization for two years, replacing Angola.<\/p>\n

The Summit of Heads of State and Government is the highest body of the CPLP. Its responsibilities are to define and guide the organization’s general policy and strategies.<\/p>\n

This body is also responsible for adopting the necessary legal instruments and implementing the statutes.<\/p>\n

The CPLP enshrines political and diplomatic coordination, respect for independence and equal sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs and defense of the territorial integrity of Member States.<\/p>\n

The organization proposes to promote Peace, Democracy, Human Rights, as well as Development and Social Justice.<\/p>\n

The organization, founded on July 17, 1996, includes Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and East Timor.<\/p>\n
