Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, left the country, around 9 am, on his way to Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, to participate in the XIV Conference of Heads of State and Government of the CPLP.<\/b><\/p>\n

At the 4 de Fevereiro International Airport, the Head of State was dismissed, among other entities, by the Vice President of the Republic, Esperanc\u0327a da Costa, and by the provincial governor of Luanda, Manuel Homem.<\/p>\n

According to the secretary of the President of the Republic for Institutional Affairs and the Press, Lui\u0301s Fernando, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o and the First Lady, Ana Dias Lourenc\u0327o, will return to Luanda at the end of the afternoon of the same Sunday.<\/p>\n

During this XIV Summit of Heads of State and Government of Portuguese-Speaking Countries, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe will assume the presidency of the organization for two years, replacing Angola.<\/p>\n

The said Summit constitutes the highest body of the CPLP, having the competences, among others, to define and guide the general policy and strategies of the organization, the adoption of the necessary legal instruments and the implementation of the statutes.<\/p>\n

The CPLP enshrines political and diplomatic coordination, respect for independence and equal sovereignty, non-interference in internal affairs and defense of the territorial integrity of Member States.<\/p>\n

The organization proposes to promote Peace, Democracy, Human Rights, as well as Development and Social Justice, and integrates Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and East Timor.<\/p>\n

It was founded on July 17, 1996, and has had Angola in its rotating presidency on several occasions.<\/p>\n
