Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The President of the Republic, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o, arrived this Sunday morning, in Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, to participate in the XIV Summit of Heads of State and Government of the Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) .<\/b><\/p>\n

During the Summit, the Angolan statesman will hand over the rotating presidency of the organisation, which lasts for a period of two years, to his counterpart from Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, Carlos Vila Nova.<\/p>\n

The meeting’s program foresees an intervention by the Angolan Head of State, after the welcome speech by the host, Carlos Vila Nova.<\/p>\n

As part of the Summit, Joa\u0303o Lourenc\u0327o should be distinguished with the Jose\u0301 Aparecido de Oliveira prize, which honors personalities and institutions that stand out in defending and promoting the principles and values \u200b\u200bof the CPLP.<\/p>\n

This is a distinction instituted in 2011 and biennial in nature.<\/p>\n

The Summit’s agenda also foresees the presentation of “Priorities of the mandate of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe for the period 2023-2025” and a political debate on “Youth and sustainability in the CPLP”, the latter being the theme of the mandate of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe Prince.<\/p>\n

The conclave should also debate the reappointment of the CPLP executive secretary, Zacarias da Costa.<\/p>\n

The Summit of Heads of State and Government is the highest body of the CPLP.<\/p>\n

Its responsibilities are to define and guide the organization’s general policy and strategies.<\/p>\n

The organization, founded on July 17, 1996, includes Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and East Timor.<\/p>\n
