Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The Community of Portuguese Speaking Countries (CPLP) reaffirmed, (Sunday), the commitment to achieve economic, social and environmental development in a sustainable and balanced way.<\/b><\/p>\n

The commitment is expressed in the declaration of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301, issued at the end of the XIV Summit of Heads of State and Government of the organization founded on July 17, 1996.<\/p>\n

To materialize this intention, the community proposes to mobilize the necessary means to implement the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, a document that contains 17 objectives.<\/p>\n

The meeting encouraged the creation of mobility and exchange programs for young people in the CPLP, with a view to reinforcing dialogue, exchange of experiences and networking.<\/p>\n

The measure aims to intensify the Exchange in the segment of education, training, culture, associations, volunteering, sports, human rights and sustainable development.<\/p>\n

In the capital of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, the CPLP reiterated the need for economic recovery after the Covid-19 pandemic, in order to preserve and create decent jobs, income and productive capacity.<\/p>\n

The Heads of State and Government recognized the importance of multilateral action in terms of capacity building, within the framework of promoting trade, investment, employment and social protection.<\/p>\n

Economic and business dimension<\/p>\n

They praised, however, the inscription in the Statutes of the organization of the economic and business dimension, contributing to the sustainable development of the member countries and the promotion of the well-being of the populations.<\/p>\n

During the XIV ordinary meeting, the CPLP summit highlighted the adoption of the \u201cStrategic agenda for the consolidation of economic cooperation in the CPLP 2022-2027\u201d.<\/p>\n

The document was adopted by the 1st Joint Meeting of Ministers of Economy, Trade and Finance, held on April 29, 2022.<\/p>\n

At this Sunday’s Summit, the leaders of Member States also welcomed the creation of the CPLP Trade and Investment Promotion Agencies Forum, which took place in February of the same year.<\/p>\n

According to the Declaration of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301, the Statesmen urged the intensification of efforts to face high unemployment rates among young people.<\/p>\n

The Heads of State and Government encouraged the strengthening of strategies for the promotion of small businesses and entrepreneurship within the scope of the CPLP.<\/p>\n

The final document of the meeting states that the participants congratulated the organization for the creation of the Directorate of Economic and Business Affairs in the Executive Secretariat.<\/p>\n

Reinforcement of technical support<\/p>\n

They understand that the measure will contribute to strengthening the technical monitoring of the actions to be implemented within the scope of the Strategic Agenda.<\/p>\n

Afterwards, they encouraged Angola’s availability to appoint a person to operationalize this Directorate and for the resources earmarked for the purpose.<\/p>\n

As for the completion of the process of ratification of the Mobility Agreement between the Member States, they considered it to be an essential step in the constitution of a true Community of peoples.<\/p>\n

Portugal, Mozambique and Cape Verde were praised for the entry into force of amendments to their Law on Foreigners to implement the Agreement.<\/p>\n

The CPLP endorsed the conclusion of the Support Program for the Integration of Equatorial Guinea in the organization and applauded the country for the abolition of the death penalty, with the entry into force of the new Penal Code, in November 2022.<\/p>\n

During the meeting in the capital of Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe, they reaffirmed their solidarity with the Mozambican Government and people in the fight against terrorism in the province of Cabo Delgado.<\/p>\n

The organization comprises Angola, Brazil, Cape Verde, Guinea-Bissau, Equatorial Guinea, Mozambique, Portugal, Sa\u0303o Tome\u0301 and Pri\u0301ncipe and East Timor.<\/p>\n
