Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The executive director for the strategic area and mining operations of ENDIMA EP, Laureano Paulo, said this Wednesday that despite the global crisis caused by the drop in the price of diamond, Angola keeps all companies operational and jobs safeguarded.<\/b><\/p>\n

Speaking to the press, at the end of the first working day of the semi-annual diamond production review meeting, the official highlighted the resilience of mining companies, which even without the usual production levels, due to external issues, continue to operate and maintain workforce.<\/p>\n

He said that the Chitotolo, Lunhinga and Calonda mines, for example, would reduce their production levels by around 30 to 40 percent as they did not carry out a set of investments planned for this year, due to the crisis in the diamond market and, despite this fact they did not stop operating.<\/p>\n

He assured that they are working towards finding viable solutions for acquiring new equipment and improving their production.<\/p>\n

He added that companies are also working to find marketing strategies for diamonds in Stock, in a context where there is a considerable drop in price\/carat.<\/p>\n

On the first day of work, issues of a geological, environmental, social nature and operational costs of the mining companies of Chitotolo, Lunhinga and Calonda were analyzed.<\/p>\n

For the second day, Thursday, an assessment of the situation of the mining companies of Furi, Luminas, Somiluana, Lulo, Cuango, Tchiegi, Chivungo, Cassanguidi and Uari-Cambange is reserved.<\/p>\n

During three days, the diamond companies will take stock of production over the last five years, present the operating situation for the first half of this year, as well as carry out an economic and financial analysis.<\/p>\n

The agenda includes the management of human resources, social responsibility programs and constraints on companies.<\/p>\n

The country currently has 19 diamond exploration companies.<\/p>\n
