Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>Angola values \u200b\u200bthe strategic importance of the United Nations for the culture of peace, at a time when the country is preparing to host the 3rd Luanda Biennale, said ambassador Francisco da Cruz in New York (USA).<\/b><\/p>\n

Angola’s permanent representative to the United Nations, who was speaking at the High Level Forum on Promoting a Culture of Peace in the Digital Age, said that digital renewal has created unprecedented opportunities for global connectivity and knowledge sharing.<\/p>\n

He noted, however, that this phenomenon brought new dimensions to conflicts and threats to peace, due to an alarming increase in false narratives and divisive ideologies, says a press release from the Permanent Mission of Angola to the United Nations.<\/p>\n

Francisco da Cruz considers it imperative to identify ways to use digital platforms and social networks to promote a culture of peace online, build tolerant and peaceful communities and work together in the fight against external polarization, xenophobia and fueled hate speech.<\/p>\n

He recalled that Angola hosts, every two years, in collaboration with the African Union and UNESCO, the Pan-African Forum for the Culture of Peace – Luanda Biennial, to strengthen the Pan-African movement and contribute to the realization of a Integrated, peaceful and prosperous Africa.<\/p>\n

The next edition is scheduled for November and will take place under the motto \u201cEducation, Culture of Peace and African Citizenship as Tools for the Sustainable Development of the Continent\u201d.<\/p>\n
