Africa-Press – Angola. <\/strong><\/span>The sectors of education, agriculture, health and tourism are among the new areas of cooperation identified by Angola in the partnership with Kenya, whose economy is considered the largest in East Africa.<\/b><\/p>\n

The information was provided by the Angolan ambassador to Kenya, Sianga Abi\u0301lio, in statements to the press, regarding Angola’s participation in the first African Summit on Climate, taking place in Nairobi.<\/p>\n

“Education is an area that Angola can take advantage of in terms of cooperation”, said the ambassador, also pointing to the health sector, where he noted that there was “development in terms of hospitals that Angola can also follow suit”.<\/p>\n

Kenya has an economy based on tourism and agriculture, sectors that are of interest to Angola, which has great potential in natural resources and which seeks to diversify its economy, which is still largely dependent on oil.<\/p>\n

The ambassador informed that Kenya has developed, in recent years, capabilities that Angola can take advantage of to boost cooperation, with emphasis on teaching, having pointed out as an example the case of the University of Nairobi, which appears in the list of the ten best in Africa.<\/p>\n

As for cooperation relations with the Government of the Republic of Kenya, the ambassador considered them “good” and highlighted the fact that he had new agreements already in sight in sectors that he did not specify.<\/p>\n

As for commercial exchanges between the two countries, he said that they still do not reflect cooperation relations, but he highlighted the existence of a “certain movement” of some goods between both regions.<\/p>\n

Without advancing possible results of the balance of trade, Syanga Abi\u0301lio referred that the numbers of these exchanges cannot be evaluated, taking into account their poor effectiveness.<\/p>\n

In the field of economic diplomacy, one of the bets of the Angolan Executive, he informed that the Diplomatic Representation continues with the presentation of the various investment opportunities that exist in Angola among the Kenyan business class.<\/p>\n

According to the Angolan ambassador, these are, among others, investment opportunities in the areas of agriculture, tourism, manufacturing and extractive industries.<\/p>\n

With an estimated population of around 51 million people, Kenya represents the largest economy in East Africa and the fifth largest economy in Sub-Shaharan Africa.<\/p>\n
